An early curling shot by captain Jack Freeman went narrowly wide before James Davies opened the scoring on 4 minutes. 10 minutes later an effort from Charlie Hobbs was well saved. A charge down by Charlie Hobbs resulted in a goal for James Davies which was controversially ruled out by the referee. Jordan Crosthwaite added a second on 20 minutes with a Beckham style free-kick from the half-way line which caught out the GV keeper. A good save from Forest Green keeper Craig Cambridge kept the half-time score 2-0
Forest Green started the second half at pace, scoring straight from the kick off with a goal from Charlie Hobbs. Seb Porter skillfully rounded the keeper to make it 4-0 before Jack Freeman added a fifth from close range. Freeman then added goal number six beating two defenders before slotting home. Charlie Hobbs completed the scoring and a good save late on by keeper Craig Cambridge ensured him a deserved clean sheet.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
