FOREST GREEN U9's Vs WOTTON U9's

.Forest Green went into this game needing a draw to win the title. Rovers looked nervous as the game got underway but had the first effort on goal from Charlie Hobbs. 5 minutes later a Seb Porter effort was cleared off of the line.
10 minutes later Wotton took the lead with a header from a corner kick. Seb Porter again shot wide for Forest Green before Wotton increased their lead 5 minutes later. Just before half-time Seb Porter gave FGR hope pulling a goal back with a good shot.
Still looking nervous, Forest Green pressed for an equaliser in the second half. James Davies shot just wide, before setting up Charlie Hobbs, but his shot was saved. Charlie then hit the post before James again shot wide. A brilliant save from Forest Green keeper Craig Cambridge kept the score at 2-1. James Davis and Charlie Hobbs again had shots just wide and over the bar and the Wotton keeper tried his luck with long goal kicks.
With 2 minutes to go James Davies hit a curling right footed shot to equalise for Forest Green and send the good FGR support wild. The final whistle was met with celebration as Rovers claimed the title.
M-O-M goalkeeper Craig Cambridge.
Congratulations to all the players, manager Carl Redmond and all his helpers for a great season, WELL DONE ALL

i have watched all of the under 9 matches this season and without a doubt this was the most nerve racking but most enjoyable of them all. the lads played their hearts out and got the deserved result in the end. well done to them all.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
