FGR Ladies v Larkhall this Sunday

Postby stroud green » Mon Sep 08, 2014 7:14 pm

The Ladies are in league action again this Sunday with a home game against Larkhall Athletic LFC.
They are hoping to keep their 100% record going and it is only goal difference keeping them from the top spot in the Women's Premier league.
Attendances at home games are gradually increasing game by game, with over 60 at the last home game, a 3 nil win over local rivals Cheltenham Town.
So come down to Slimbridge FC on Sunday and see for yourself what great football they play.

Great 3 points for the men's team today. Come along to Slimbridge tomorrow afternoon and cheer the ladies on to a Forest Green weekend double.

Match photos and report from yesterdays game which saw Rovers Ladies maintain their 100% start to the season and with Swindon Town dropping points, go top of the league.

Next week the Ladies are away to Gosport Borough LFC who they beat 6-2 at home on the opening day of the season.

FA WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE

Sunday 14th September 2014

FOREST GREEN ROVERS LFC - 3

LARKHALL ATHLETIC LFC - 0

Rovers maintained their good start to the season, with this workmanlike victory over visitors Larkhall at Wisloe Road on Sunday.

A lacklustre first half produced few chances, with a few goal mouth scrambles all to show for both teams efforts, and neither keeper seriously tested.

The half time pep talk from manager Josh Giddins seemed to do the trick, as a rejuvenated home team started with a lot more urgency, and Naomi Marshall soon pounced to fire home from close range to open the scoring. A second soon followed as captain Kirsty Richardson found Ellie Olds with a pinpoint pass, and taking the ball down in her stride Olds hit a 25 yard screamer into the far corner,

With the home team keeping the tempo high , Larkhall struggled to repel Rovers attacks, and it came as no surprise when Rosie Bidder put Sammy Hallsworth through on goal, to calmly slot past the advancing keeper, to complete the scoring.

With another welcome three points in the bag, Rovers can be happy with their start to the season, but will be striving to put in full 90 minute performances against the strong opposition in their upcoming fixtures.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
