The ladies 100% record went yesterday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Shanklin Ladies. They still head the table, two points clear of Swindon Town in second place.

FA WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE

Sunday 28th September 2014

FOREST GREEN ROVERS LFC – 1

SHANKLIN TOWN LFC - 1

A lacklustre display by the home team saw them lose their 100%record for the season to visitors Shanklin Town. In a first half that never really got going neither team created anything of note, apart from Rovers having a one on one that was blazed over the bar.

The second half saw a more concerted effort from Forest Green, and they gained their reward when Charlotte King drove home from a 20 yard free kick to give them the lead. This however was shortlived as Shanklin went straight down the other end and were awarded a very soft penalty, which was calmly despatched to level the scores.

Despite both teams having numerous attacks, there was not any clear cut chances of note, and the game petered out into a stalemate with the points shared. A disappointing performance and result for Rovers, who will be hoping for better next Sunday, when Exeter City visit Slimbridge in the league, with a 2pm kick off.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
