FA WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE
Sunday 5th October 2014

FOREST GREEN ROVERS LFC – 2

EXETER CITY LFC - 2
Rovers could only manage a point from a game they should have had put to bed by half time. A good all round performance was marred by some wayward finishing, that saw the woodwork struck no less than five times, as well as some glaring misses and good saves.

Amy Baker opened the scoring for Forest when she got on the end of a through ball to slot past the keeper for her first goal for the club since her arrival from Swindon Town, and due to the wasted efforts in front of goal this remained the score going into the break.

After the restart Exeter soon equalised from a quick break which saw the home side’s defence caught out of position, resulting in an easy finish for the visitors winger. Spurred on by this setback Rovers kept attacking in numbers, but a combination of good goalkeeping, bad finishing, and the woodwork , kept them at bay until Charlotte King restored the lead midway through the half.

All their hard work was undone however when another poor goal was conceded from a corner three minutes from time, to end the game honours even.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
