FGR u14's JPL Charity Shield

Postby Bloomers » Sun Aug 30, 2015 12:20 pm

FGR u14's played two tough games against North Somerset & Coventry City in the Junior Premier League Charity Shield at the Corinium Stadium, Cirencester yesterday.
First up FGR v North Somerset, with a hard fought win 1-0 to FGR, playing a 2 X 20 minute game. Next up FGR v Coventry City almost immediately, with FGR trying to recover from the previous full on game, and Coventry City with fresh legs that gave them (in my opinion) an advantage which resulted in them winning 2-1, Coventry then also beat North Somerset 2-1 to lift the Charity Shield.
It was a great performance from FGR and a good warm up to the start of the season beginning next week.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
