Playing only their second game since early December, Rovers were slow to get into their stride against a very determined and fit Chippenham team, who pressed far up the pitch, and who matched the visitors in the first half in an evenly contested 45 minutes.
With half time reached at 0-0, Forest Green changed the shape of the team for the second half, and almost immediately it paid off, with both Ashleigh Watson scoring a fine volley, and then Rachel Isaac managing to get her head to a hanging corner, to flick it home for a 0-2 lead.
Both teams had further chances to score, and having been frustrated by the home keeper on a number of accasions, it then required a wonderful save from Lucy Clark towards the end to keep the visitors clean sheet.
Next Sunday the 12th February sees Rovers entertain Cheltenham Town Development at Thornhill Park, Slimbridge FC, with a 2pm kick off.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
