Prediction League & Competitions

Postby Pitchfork » Tue Jul 31, 2018 4:46 pm

Hi

I have had enquiries about this year's precaution competitions and why they are not appearing on this forum.

THEY ARE RUNNING - Old Tom Cat is now I/C and he prefers running them on the 'First Team Forum'

The ones set up to date are:

Grimsby match forecast viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95532

FGR League position at the end of this season - May 2019 viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95342

I'm sure Old Tom Cat will be meticulous in his tabulations throughout the season

Thanks Phil. By the way, what is a precaution competition?

Copy of post on First Team thread:

"Hi guys,
For my sins I've been nominated to run the annual FGR leading goalscorer competition.
Usual rules in that you must nominate a player who you think will score most goals during season and how many it be.
But having a big heart I'm allowing you the opportunity of a mid-season transfer during the winter transfer window.
Therefore if you say nominate Doidge to score 23 goals and he is transferred in January, you could then nominate Reid to score 22 goals.
Of course you'd lose all Doidgie's goals for those that Reid has already scored. And if at end of season Reid is highest goal scorer with 22 goals and two players have nominated him, the player who has had him from start of season will win the money.
Also if the two top players score identical number of goals, then the player who has scored most during open play will be declared winner.

Entry to this competition is £5 and is combined with Pitchfork's 'FGR League Position 2019'. The income for entry will be split down 50/50 between both competitions.

My forecast: Doidge with 23 goals
All forecasts must be posted by end of month as are any changes if need be. "

All three competitions; (1) Game Forecast, (2) Goals & (3) League Position will all be on First Team thread.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
