GOALS 2017-2018

Postby Pitchfork » Sun Aug 20, 2017 9:47 am

FGR GOALS sponsored by SPARKY

How many goals will FGR score during the season - league and cup games until the last league match of the season? If the Yeovil match is anything to go by, scoring goals won't be our problem!

Our last 10 years shows a mixed picture, but to be serious promotion candidates AGAIN we have to aim to score 80+. With the exception of 2009, predictions are usually fairly accurate

2008 99 ( Tommo predicted 101,andyp 98)
2009 97 ( Tommo was closest with 85)
2010 58 ( a lean year, but Greenjohn and bigsav were spot on)
2011 55 ( another poor year but Freddy and Titch both one out)
2012 67 ( Timb spot on, Titch one out again)
2013 73 ( Foggy and Linfield spot on)
2014 82 ( Greenjohn predicted 85, everyone else predicted higher with all our strikers!)
2015 89 (Titch spot on, John Whiffen and Kevin both one out )
2016 73 (Greenjohn won this for the 3rd time - his 72 was the only prediction under 80)
2017 93 ( Redunited spot on)

Entries in before our first September match (Wycombe 2/9). Individual top goal scorer will be on a separate thread, with a later DEADLINE. No editing once your prediction has been made. Let me know if you wish to sponsor the TOP SCORER competition.

This COMPETITION is open to all those who have signed up for the season. ( not too late to do this)

ANYONE ELSE can pay £5 (leave at reception in an envelope named Pitchfork) and enter this, final league position, top scorer, top seven and F.A.Cup run competitions. All will be posted with a long lead in time to predict

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
