Is the supporters club still going, it is very quite on here?
Was there meant to be a race night on 24th Feb?

Hi Corner Flag - it's very active with coaches to every match, excellent support up at Gateshead. The quiz night was very popular with well over 100 attendees and another is arranged for the 21st April.

The SC raffle has never sold as many tickets each home match - prizes are bumper and these will be even larger next season. Grassroots is up and running again supporting the youth and ladies' teams.

The last Race Night was poorly attended and the consensus was that these do not attract people these days - all members have been notified about cancellation of the 24th Feb event. Are you not a member? The secretary Neil Munro sends out regular communications.

Membership numbers are around 140, which was quite acceptable given no-one was offered free membership. A drive for new members for the
2017-18 season will start in March. We are aiming particularly at junior members who will be able to join for a quid. I would like to think 200 SC members is a fair target, given the impetus created by the amalgamation of the SC and ST.

Not a member of the supporters club, see little point as a club member.
I note that you have to be a supporters club member to get communications. Perhaps if communication with nonmembers was better the events would get more support or are the events for supporters club members only? The lack of communication has been pointed out before, when not many turned up for the 'meet the manager' event last year. Might help to post the regular communications here, so nonmembers know what's going on. It might encourage nonmembers to join and also show the supporters club is active. Why not have a link to be able to sign up for communications.

Quiz Nights Fridays - 21st April. Open to all.
£5 entry with teams of up to 6 people, including free food. More details to follow. The November Quiz Night was attended by about 115 people and raised about £800 of which over £500 was donated to FGR Ladies team.

Race Nights
We held a Race Night at Forest Green on in the Carol Embrey. It raised a few hundred pounds for the Supporters Club but as Pitchfork has explained not a great attendance. Entry was only £5 including food.

Meet the Manager (Formerly called Fans Forums): Two already held, one more planned this season, possibly 30 March. In November Mark Cooper was refreshingly honest and provided interesting answers to Supporters questions. In November the event was hosted by BBC’s Bob Hunt. Open to all.

Supporters Match: This was held on New Years Day. Supporters Club Members had use of the Black & White Lounge with free pre-match nibbles & dips and free half time hot drink and cake. A lucky Junior member represented the Club as a Match Day Mascot.

Events have been advertised via the Forum, Supporters Club article in the match day programme, FGR web site, e-mails or letters to members, free Forest Focus handed out at matches, tannoy messages and word of mouth although, as Corner Flag says, there is room for improvement and we have asked if anybody is willing to take responsibility for the communication role.

Rovers Raffle: at each home match In aid of the Supporters Club. 50p per ticket. First prize of at least £75. First prizes so far have varied between £100 and £275.

Forest Focus: Free Newsletter - First edition for this season was published on 17 Dec, and handed out to all at Dover match & e-mailed to members. There will be another edition later in the season.
.
Away Travel – subsidised and organised in conjunction with FGR. Travel Club membership for the new season is £27.60 per month – and that guarantees your place on the coach for every away league game at an average price of just £12 – a huge saving on match-by-match prices. Supporters who would like more information or to join the Travel Club can contact Richard Gray by emailing rwg@rwkaccounting.co.uk.
FGR season ticket holders, Club Members and Supporters Club members continue to earn a discount on travel with a two match category system in place again this season.
Group A fixtures are just £14 for members, £8 for under 16s and £19 for non-members. Meanwhile Group B games are£18 for members, £11 for under 16s and £23 for non-members.
The online booking system means that fans can easily book and pay for their seats online. Simply go to the online FGR club shop to view the next series of away fixtures that are available.
You can also book via Kate at the FGR Reception, either in person or by calling 01453 834860, opening times 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday.
GRASS ROOTS: We have re-launched GRASS as GRASS ROOTS. GRASS ROOTS will exclusively support the development of FGR Ladies and the FGR Youth set up and we hope that you will get behind this to help support the branches of FGR away from the spotlight of the first team.

‘We are FGR’ DVD: Produced by Tim Barnard for the Supporters Club it features interviews with supporters and action from 2014-15 play off season and 2016 Wembley appearance. Bonus footage from 2004 at the Old Lawn –FGR 3 Burton 2. Cost £10 in aid of GRASS ROOTS.

Supporters Director: Martin Williams - martin.williams3455@gmail.com - is Supporters Club representative on the FGR Main Executive Board, and continues to raise issues at Board Level.

The Supporters Club are involved in the improvements to the South Stand bar for example we purchased the TV and SC sponsored a trip by the school junior Ambassador’s to the Macclesfield away match.

Next season Supporters Club membership will cost £10 for adults and £1 for juniors. We hope to launch that earlier than previously in March/ April.

The SC committee are happy to discuss issues at matches.

The next Quiz Night will be Friday 21 April in the Carol Embrey Suite.

It is another joint fundraiser with for Ladies to help them stabilise for next season.

Tickets will be available from next Saturday. Looking forward to it being as much of a success as the last one.

FGR Supporters Club Membership Season 17/18

Young people are the future of this football club. So with this in mind the Supporters club have reduced the membership fees for younger supporters.
For next season it will be only £1 per year for under 16s and only £5 for under 18s. Adult membership remains at £10 a season.

To emphasise the Supporters Club commitment to young people the membership card next season features a photo, taken by Shane Healey, of FGR club captain Aaron Racine with a group of the boys and girls who do such excellent work in their schools as FGR Junior Ambassadors.

We have launched Supporters Club membership earlier than in previous years. You are able to join for next season – 17/18 - now. Application Forms will be available at FGR Reception from Saturday (18 March 17). Membership cards should be available early April.

The advantages of being a member of the Supporters Club include

• Help contribute and feel part of the success of our club.
• Your opinions considered and passed onto the FGR Executive Board via Martin Williams, Supporter Director.
• Reduced price away travel.
• Helping FGR Ladies & Youth teams.
• Social events – e.g. Quiz, Race Nights & Meet the Manager events.
• Improvements to facilities at TNL e.g. South Stand bar & TV.

We hope you will decide to join the Supporters Club for next season.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
