I wrote up these notes before Coventry game where FGR were held to a 90 minute draw and Northampton secured a 2-0 away win at Oxford United.
Therefore FGR my away win looks a bit dodgy but I will not change it.

Football League only I think seven are the following:

Northampton
Coventry
Carlisle
Bury
Oldham
Notts Co
Luton

MK Dons could also be considered. They did not play in top division under that name nor county but they continued the same link from Wimbledon days.

Hi
It could be argued that the "Top Flight" in the Football League is the Championship.

not that it really matters to me ,and i have obviously missed it somewhere-but why is this match kicking off at 2 pm ?

its not as though there is an intnl fixture of relevance starting at 5pm

Northampton Saints v Clermont Auvergne
Sat. 13 Oct 2018 15:00 (Admission 13:00) Franklins Gardens, Northampton

This match takes place on Sat afternoon as well, so I assume the early start time for our game is following a request/demand from the police &/or other relevant authorities.

Just as an aside I did mention to our friends in north of county that FGR will be going all out for an away win to please both Gloucestershire clubs.
Anything less than a FGR would drop Cheltenham down table by at least one place and possibly into an automatic relegation spot.
I'm sure they will all be cheering us on.

It's a blustery drizzly day and all is set for the Quiz Night tonight in the warm and welcoming Carol Embrey Shiite. Perfect to take the mind off the trip to Northampton for a few hours.

Doors open at 6.30. Tickets are £5 a head including wholesome food.

Hopefully you can make it up to FGR and help raise some ffunds at the same time for FGR Ladies.

Looking forward to tonight and tomorrow's trip.

Ha!

So reminds me of Humph in "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue", when introducing the pianist on the show (Colin Sell). The introduction always included a story (usually at Colin's expense) and once it was along the lines of -

"Many think that Colin has a somewhat Middle-Eastern appearance - in fact he has just returned from a recent tour, playing to audiences in the Middle East; some there thought he was Sunni, but most thought he was Shiite".

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
