Reports have emerged that Mark Cooper is being considered by Brentford. We hope to get more on this later today.

The original reports come from HITC apparently, hardly known for being the most accurate when it comes to facts but you never know. Here’s the article - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.hitc ... ss-cooper/

At 33-1 it doesn’t exactly appear that he’s a front runner at this point.

Cowleys have been linked as well, just the usual guess work from the press.

Cooper says it's nice to be linked but insists he's focused on Forest Green

You’d like to think he would see more of a future at FGR. We are a club on the way up and with a bright future and have a chairman who has shown him loyalty and a willingness to back him financially when many others wouldn’t or couldn’t have. Would be a shame all round as it seems his hard work and vision has just begun to pay off.

Brentford are a well run club, possibly exceeding expectations and with a new ground on the horizon. You could argue that there are parallels with our situation. I think MC knows that his Chairman is not prone to knee-jerk reactions when things aren't going our way, that probably counts for a lot in a career where losing your job is an occupational hazard. I wouldn't blame him if he had ambitions to move higher but suspect he may not, just yet.

Come on guys there is nothing in this. Just idle speculation designed to provoke more speculation. Personally I think Ady Pennock is a shoe in for Brentford

I would think that the Brentford job is one of the most coveted in football.

Football management is for the most part a pretty fickle and short lifespan. I'd want MC to stay but let's not pretend this is a better situation for him.

I agree with comments that MC won’t go to Brentford - for the reasons given. The Cowleys were listed in the odds list I saw but that is also unlikely I think given their potential at Lincoln.

Cowleys at Brentford Tommo? Brentford are envied for their style of play and quality of young footballers. Don't think the Cowleys' brand of intimidation and iron fist is what they are after?

Undoubtedly, Coops' mantra is what Brentford would espouse but a Championship side with Premiership ambitions would surely look for a CV with upper echelon promotions?

Latest betting has MC as third favourite on 5/1 with Skybet and 10/1 with Bet Victor, behind Robbie DiMatteo and someone called Thomas Frank. To be fair I think that some of the names with longer odds are more likely, with odds quoted for the likes of Aidy Boothroyd and Nathan Jones. Danny Cowley is quoted, but I would go with the above comment about him not fitting in with what the club are trying to do.

Thomas Frank was Smith's assistant and the current caretaker.

Yes I see that MC is quoted by some firms. This is the list I saw on TalkSport:

Thomas Frank – 1/2
Roberto Di Matteo – 7/2
Nathan Jones – 9/1
Danny Cowley – 16/1
Michael Appleton – 16/1
Carlos Carvalhal – 18/1
Rui Faria – 18/1
David Moyes – 20/1
Mark Warburton – 20/1

But I guess MC is also in the mix. Good for him to be thought of in that company. Frank is the current No2 at Brentford I believe.

I would be gutted if he left for Brentford or anywhere else.

Why?

Because he was our manager when I started supporting so as far as I'm concerned, he's been our only manager.

Since then?

Not many had faith in him last season.

I did.

Apart from KS, can't remember who else did but DV definitely did and that's the most important thing.
This season everyone has faith in him because we've been doing so well.

I just hope he resists temptation and stays where he belongs.

Paddy Power now shows Thomas Frank as 1/6. Betting on MC suspended. I presume that’s a good thing

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
