Looks pretty inevitable. Class act. His improvement over a season was immense. Hopefully down to our coaching staff, so others can progress. Now looks like we might have to build an entire midfield. Pretty daunting. We need some quality for the engine room. Guess there’s always Charlie.

Oh no, what have I started ....

We have Winny and Diggers...not a bad starting point, but agree with you about needing a bit of a rebuild.

Pity it was this season that he lit the blue touch-paper. Had it been the season before, would have ensured a good fee as he was still in contract.

Not sure that Huddersfield is the right move for Reece at the moment. I really hope he doesn’t find himself with limited game time because he needs to play regularly to develop further in my opinion. Would have preferred to see him go to a club that will build a team around him. I hope I’m wrong.

Either way, I wish Reece the very best of luck. He’s been an absolute pleasure to watch at times. I’m sure he and his family will be singing FGR’s praises in terms of how he’s been developed.

Not so sure about an entire midfield, but not sure we have anybody at the moment who can do a no. 10 role.

Thought Grubby might have been a prospect but he doesn't seem to have developed over the past season.

Junior look like he may have an eye for a pass, but not sure the position is right for him.

Hmmmmm.....

not suggesting he is a worldbeater, but not much wrong with James either.

that given- i do agree that at least two quality midfield players are required

Hope we get a decent sell on clause as part of the deal.

Wouldn't have thought we would get one at all as we aren't selling him,he is going on a free and it is just compensation because he is under 24 we are entitled too

Pretty sure we got a sell on clause when Odejayi went to Cheltenham? He was under 24 and out of contract at the time too.

I stand corrected.Didn't think we could particularly barter with him being out if contract.

That is my understanding too. Its a shame we couldn't extend his contract early last season when he became a class act. But I guess some of the money Huddersfield don't pay to us (over and above the probably paltry arbitration fee) will go to Reece his agent.

Definitely going (gone) to Huddersfield according to my sister and nephew, who live there and are avid Huddy fans. They reckon he's had his medical.

Yep - seems like Reece is off to Huudersfield. £100,000 compensation fee quoted.

Don't think his contract officially ends until June 30, so we could in theory agree a sale price (and thus a sell on) with Huddersfield rather than compensation.

£130,000 compensation fee and a sell on clause attached. I think we’ve done fairly well there.
Now who can we find to replace him?

My best wishes growth him - he was nurtured well at FGR and he paid us back with some brilliant footballing skills last season.

Yes a good bit of business, but Huddersfield have a bargain buy with their parachute money. He may not be ready to step up to the Championship but with his head now focussed, he should get some game time over the next year.

I'm not as sure he is destined for the same heights as Ethan Pinnock, but if he continues to progress he will be on big money in years to come.

If the club had any ambition they would double his wages and sign him !!!

Worried about next season now, we should be looking to finish up the table, not down it.
Proud supporter of Forest Green. Love the team, hate the regime.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
