FGR sign exciting midfielder Ebou Adams

Postby FGR_Media » Tue Jun 18, 2019 4:04 pm

Forest Green Rovers have signed Ebrima ‘Ebou’ Adams for an undisclosed fee from National League side Ebbsfleet United.

The 23-year-old, box-to-box midfielder has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at The New Lawn following a fine season with Ebbsfleet where he made 37 appearances.

Welcome Ebou.

Big step up but others have done it. Looks like he may need to add goals to his repertoire.

We are going to need more in creative/goalscoring midfield.

Not sure how many games Gambia play in a season but I hope we can get someone to cover for him during the inevitable tiring international breaks. He obviously has quality to be selected so often for Gambia so I'm very hopeful but two steps up is a big ask for next season. MC has a decent record of bringing in useful players from that level though - Grubb in particular - and Ebou is young enough to improve rapidly if he wants it.

Looks athletic and tall. 2 things we were lacking. Must have a good engine to be box to box. Hopefully he has bit of pace as well. Like hungry young players on the way up. Hope we are keeping an eye on Brad Colllins situation. Would love to sign him now he’s released, though probably has sights set on a higher level.

Welcome Ebou. You will enjoy life at FGR - another in Reece's mould hopefully?

Not sure how Coops manages to find them but a very interesting prospect.

Welcome to the club Ebou.

Concerned he has 12 books in only 39 appearances.

We must perhaps look to the example of Liam Noble who had probably one of the worst disciplinary records going before signing for FGR, but under MC's tutelage LN became a much better behaved player.

To he fair to him that's not an horrendous record and as he says himself,he is a box to box player who likes to put in tackles and win the ball back, that style of play will get you yellow cards but can also make the difference in a game.Sam Wedgebury was a similar player, couldn't shoot ,so-so at passing but was all over the pitch, harassing the opposition and winning the ball back for the more stylish players to put to good use.

The discipline that Coops has installed is impressive. Even Gav learned over the season, though sadly not well enough.

Our team gives away about 6 free kicks per game, usually less than half our opposition and very rarely around the box (as occurred time & time again in 2017/18). Partly explains our 90 degree turn around in defensive performance over the 2 seasons in the League. I'm sure Ebou will 'join the programme'!

Sadly, referees still side with the bigger teams when major decisions are made. If they want more respect - a reasonable request - then respect teams who play a fair game. The Tranmere games were arguably determined by the way fouls/challenges by either side were judged. Nors should have been ruled out of the play-offs after 10 minutes. Then the spectacle of that idiot official flouting behaviour regulations at TNL ... Still I'd rather we play the way we do

Ebou looks promising. I look forward to seeing him play.

It says we have signed 4 players. I'm aware of Ebou Adams, Matt Mills and Aaron Collins. So who is the 4th?

Just viewed the Ebou interview, and was very impressed with how well he conducted himself, confident, well spoken, with considered answers, and comes across as a balanced individual who is keen to impress. Really hope he does well for us next season. Bring it on !.

We need all these intelligent, articulate players so that they can ask effective questions of opposition defences!

Did you actually watch Brad Collins! Made a few camera saves but made mistake after mistake cost us minimum of 15 points and almost got us relegated. No way near good enough.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
