apologies again if i am mildly digressing the subject matter, but as an aside i am curious to what the attendance will be .

i see Charlton got 18000 on saturday .
my best guess would be 6500 on tuesday .

Of course-if the season were to stop now (after 2 games where charlton are second in the championship ) Charlton would be a Premiership side next season-so its a tough ask for FGR on tuesday.

I can't remember FGR playing a competitive game v a Premiership team, and Charlton are (currently) higher placed than Derby were a few seasons back , so is this the highest level of opposition FGR have ever faced competitively ?

It's a shame this game is so soon into the season, don't really feel we have hit our stride yet and are still getting used to how to play the system and who each individual responsibility is.

I worry that we might be well beaten and it will effect confidence, but also hoping a good performance will help spring board us onto a positive little run.

Mind says a 3 or 4 nil drubbing, heart says a hard fought draw or sneak a win. I hope for the latter.

Lose 5-0, which would be no disgrace. Charlton are flying. Hope he doesn’t risk too many first teamers and gives the fringe players a good chance. Want to see Smith, Adams, Allen fight for a league start.

So their second-string team is expected to include Chuks Aneke. Hmm, he almost certainly has greater familiarity with our style of play (if not the exact capabilities of this season's team) than anyone else at the Valley, and has got through our defences once (I think) before.... Hmm.

FGR to lose 2-1 - I've got both other games wrong so by predicting a loss things might go well!

Miffed to be missing this one :( Pity it wasn't scheduled for Wednesday.

However, as others have said, difficult to know given uncertainty of team selection. However, Charlton U-23's were pretty strong last year. Can imagine it would be difficult to hold our own against them, so if first team involved as well.....

Are Jokers allowed for this one? In which case Joker and loss but would be ABSOLUTELY delighted to be proved wrong.

3-0 to Charlton.
My mileage; yours may vary, of course.....

Didn't want to start a new thread so does anyone know if this game is included in the radio subscription?

Impossible to predict this game cos you just don't know if either club will field a first XI, second string or a mix of both.

It will be on the radio, but the live streaming only has rights to league games apparently.

Btw does anyone remember the last time we played Charlton? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1877

Sorry twoguns, just double checked on the subscriptions page, looks like FGR Live audio covers all matches, it's only the video that is restricted to league games. Means I'll be able to tune in too.

Thanks again KS.

Going back to your link and again hesitant to ask given the passage of time but is Sledge still about? Enjoyed his posts on the forum but don't know him personally.

In earlier post you had a 0-2 forecast which would have gained you an extra point if no scorer.
In this post you've not included a nominated goalscorer.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
