Rode our luck a bit at times but 5 out of 5 pens and a gritty performance against a championship team (all be it their reserves) will do confidence wonders and a few players gave Coops something to think about for Saturday.
Fingers crossed for a bug name in the draw

I think the average age of our back 6 tonight was just 22, and we kept a clean sheet away at Charlton. Fantastic result! Then to have the bottle to score all 5 pens shows the resilience Cooper has installed in this team.
Still slight concern lingering about our attack, but I can’t see anyone fancying playing us at the moment.

Hopeless .....

Emailed Glos Radio.last year and pointed out that since we are now clearly Gloucestershire's biggest club shouldn't we be on DAB ,they never even bothered replying.

Absolutely brilliant and Wollacott was brilliant right through the match. Penalty saves during the match plus the one in the shot out. He also caught everything that came across his box. Great work by all the players and they will be a few looking to start on Saturday.

Attendance: 2693 (159 from FGR) Well done to those supporters.

Man-of-the-Match: Joe Wollacott

Next round: Bournemouth Away

Must be the lucky blue shirts!

Credit due, these young players have got plenty of bottle. Seems we are just missing creativity linking midfield and forwards. Who played well tonight? How did Adams or Stevens do?

Grimsby will be a tough game as they also got great result. Can’t wait for Sat now. Well done the 159.

Bournemouth Away - fantastic draw!
One of the the big five teams in the southern section of the draw for the next round (West Ham, Palace, Southampton and Brighton being the others).
Bring it on!

We rode our luck at times but were far from outclassed.

Think that's the 6th biggest stadium we've ever played in, the 'best' opposition we've ever beaten and the first penalty shootout win since?!

Joe Mills mom but morton was excellent for the first and last third. Such a shame we've only got him for a year.

Excellent stuff and even more progress from the village club.

You could argue one of the biggest as I'm pretty sure that Bournemouth finished above most of that lot last season.

On my way home from the game and how I feel at the moment is indescribable.

I'm walking on air, still in shock that we actually beat them when so many thought we wouldn't.
Maybe I dreamt it!

I'll post again tomorrow if I eventually come back down to earth.

All I will say is that I'm always proud to walk around South London displaying our colours but tonight I'm prouder than ever.

Highly commendable performance from the first minute until McCoulsky scored our 5th. ( that sounds good eh?) The team played with style and great determination.

159 FGR fans in superb voice throughout and deserved the applause from the players at the end

Impressed by the seemless way Dayle & Shawn slotted in as subs.

Joe Mills would have been my MOTM but both Morton & Wollacott but in excellent shifts. Of course the whole team will remember this night when they played at The Valley and beat a Championship club.

Credit to Matt Mills, Kevin Phillips and Barts for stepping up to support Mark C. The team were well prepared and marshalled calmly on the night.

Not an easy team selection for Saturday.

Happy with a trip to the seaside in the second round.

They might say, there were only the reserves of Charlton. Reserves and reserves. It´s true, no one of the opening 11 tonight weren´t among the openers on Saturday, when Charlton defeated Stoke 3-1.
But the whole bench of the Stoke-game - all seven players - were in the opening 11 tonight. And Chuks Aneke even came from the bench and scored one goal against Stoke.

So not just a reserve team. I guess all Charlton players, who performed tonight, will have at least some games in The Championship.

Well done, Coops & The Boys!

In complete shock (and awe )

No Matter if its an U18 side-any clean sheet is difficult to achieve-so that was an outstanding performance .

Just superb.
Not sure what i think about the bournemouth tie -perhaps would have preferred an EFL2 side at home-and then Tottenham away in the following round ,but you never know- may yet beat bournemouth .

I just love the cup-any cup will do

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
