Most fouled against side

Postby michael » Mon Sep 16, 2019 12:04 pm

I hear in MC's post match interview that MC said there were some stats out showing that FGR were the most fouled against side in all 4 main divisions .

depending on your viewpoint, that probably supports the view that FGR are a very skillful ,clever and adept passing side.

That given-if you are a fan of another club - would that support the opposition view that FGR are load of diving cheats ?

Discuss ?

MC should be a little careful 'cause our opponents will comment that FGR stand 2nd in Disciplinary table with 23 pts [17 yellow & 2 red].
We all know FGR are not a hard dirty team and like to play creative football but alas from that table it looks the opposite.

I cannot find a website that shows the most fouls conceded so unable to comment on Mark's point.

The more you have of the ball, the more chances you'll get fouled. If anything I'd say refs often miss a lot of niggly fouls during games.

Bit of a weighted last question there Michael. There certainly doesn't seem to be any sort of consensus amongst opposition fans that we're a bunch of diving cheats that I've seen/talked too, so not sure where that comes from. The only ones that moaned a lot were Bradford but they are a particularly one eyed/partisan crowd. The main complaint I hear is how long we take on goal kicks, throw ins etc.

Thanks for the link.

So 85 fouls committed (4th least in league 2) ,and been on the end of 130 (1st).

Good to see, the less free kicks conceded the better, might be a big part of the reason we've been able to keep so many clean sheets.

last point is well made imo.

i was thinking that in saturdays game, albeit i thought fgr started to concede more late on-tiredness/panic/pressure/gamesmanship ?

That's a great link.

Look how high Oldham are on fouls committed. So they haven't changed their game plan from the start of the season.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
