All about our First Team

Sadly, 6-0 and becoming a real hiding

There was a nucleus of 1st team subs and others back in after injury. The academy lads would have looked to them for ‘guidance’

But the likes of Matt Mills, Nathan McGinley Junior Mondal & Adam Smith looked way off the pace. Only Morton did well (first half). The youngsters have tried hard, but lack the physical strength of their opponents

One to forget

Have Walsall really got a player named Cockerel Mullet?? .

Now 0-6.

6-0 no one wants to lose like this, damaging for morale.

Be very surprised if it affects the first team in any way other than giving them something to rib their mates who played about.

How can it effect morale. None of these will be starting on Saturday. Good to get some minutes into legs, looking forward to Saturday, a proper game.

Done wonders for Walsall's confidence, anyway. And freed us to concentrate on what we need to concentrate on. A win all round.

Don't understand how the red cards in this trophy work: would Collins be allowed to play on Saturday or not? (And did he lose a bet or something to end up on the pitch tonight in the first place?)

I'm far more bothered how we do in the county cup, hope we give that a decent go with the kids.

Terrible game to watch and the poor youngsters didn't have a clue against a good Walsall team. Collins has got to learn to keep his mouth shut, 2 yellows in 60 seconds from the referee only ends in a red. That ended the match from then on.

Previous worst result: 05/09/2009 - 7-0 defeat to Cambridge United.

Attendance: 621 (67 from Forest Green)

Man-of-the-Match: Not awarded this evening

Think I'll wipe this match from my memory.

Disappointed but not surprised. Didn't MC say on Saturday that he would be happy to go out of the FA cup to a big team in 3rd round and concentrate on the league. Seems as if we have a good first team, but little strength in depth and doesn't sound as if those who have been dropped are really challenging for a 1st team place. Do we need a couple of signings to strengthen the team in Jan?

Couldn't agree more... Who cares about tonight. Top of the league and in the FA Cup with a good home draw. Totally agree with the decision to rest players.

I believe Collins red won't apply this Saturday, he is only suspended from the Leasing, com Trophy and as we're out it doesn't matter.

Heard the score on the radio on the way home. Couldn't believe it :o what went wrong

Plenty of other somewhat unpredictable scores on the night though. Even more so than last Saturday.

I hope the moral hasn't taken a hammering like the team tonight. Also worrying that there doesn't seem to be much depth to the squad.
My mileage; yours may vary, of course.....

winning is a habit/losing is a habit .

I wonder how the 'does not matter 'brigade will feel in 11 days if FGR lose to Plymouth and are then put out of the FA Cup by carlisle ?

If fgr win both -MC will be vindicated '
If not it will be a long long winter .

No rule saying fgr would win tonight, whatever team played-but losing 6-0 thats poor .

As soon as team was announced the FGR faithful had doubts about the team’s potential. That is why perhaps it was the quietest FGR away support for ages and ages.

One guy, standing at back of stand, did try to encourage us all to sing by ‘chanting’ a limited range of songs.
Alas for him nobody followed his lead and that was solely because none of his songs were in support of FGR but mostly slagging off Walsall or telling Nathan to give him a wave.

After the umpteenth time of asking Nathan for a wave somebody shouted out that he would prefer Nathan to concentrate on game rather than concentrate on giving a wave.
And a minute late a Walsall fan got fed up with him chanting that FGR had more fans by shouting that they had ‘more goals’.
Everybody in the stand laughed and the guy more or less stopped his less than impressive chants.

At end of game an absolute unbelievable turn prevented a number of fans immediately leaving the arena.
A few of us had gone to the WC in preparation for trip back to Gloucestershire but when we walked back into corridor we were all corralled and told to stay put as security had found an unidentified object buried in the sand.
Security refused point blank to allow us out of stadium by normal exit. They wanted us to leave by another door but it was locked and we stood for many minutes twiddling our thumbs.
Eventually we were all told to leave by yet another door. By then a very impatient coach passenger was getting het up with wait despite not knowing reason for delay. The miserable so-and-so was probably already peeved off after watching the 0-6 match loss.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
