Biggest v Smallest

Postby FGR Vegan Jack » Fri Nov 15, 2019 7:10 pm

Pointless statistic about tomorrow’s game ...

Plymouth is the largest city / town (263k) in England (and Wales) never to have had a team in the top flight.

And as we know, FGR has the smallest town (6k) to host a league club.

Sorry! I need to get out more!!

I think I heard someone say that Nailsworth is the only town where the whole population can fit inside its football stadia, ie: ourselves and Shortwood...but not sure it that is technically possible.

big v small

east and south :

from the clubs official site prior to todays game :

As the furthest League club to both the south and the east coasts of the United Kingdom, the three-hour trip from Home Park to The New Lawn seems a comparative breeze for the Pilgrims and their travelling Green Army.

geography was never my strongest subject and i probably won't lose any sleep either way, but i did wonder whether the above is correct ?

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
