If true and Joe does sign a new contract with FGR that would be marvellous, fantastic, super news.
But until he signs on dotted line I wait with baited breath.

-exactly-for all we know ,this could be Tom ,advising that he (Tom ) has signed a contract with an estate agent today to sell his/her (Toms ) house .

Perhaps Tom would like to be a bit more specific ?
The club have not very subtly hinted it on their Twitter page.

you may well be right ,but would you agree that 'big news ',could be anything ?

wasn't it about now that FGR were going to get it absolutely confirmed that they could go unencumbered to detailed planning ,and whilst we all see things differently, for me that would be about ten times more important and bigger news than JM re-signing ?

nice if both could be confirmed though just the same

Yes! Remember when the FGR twitter teased about someone coming home (Strong Hints about Woolery....) only for it to never happen and then days later he signed for Swindon.

Surely we have learnt our lesson, and for them to tease again - The contract must be signed., Otherwise this is going to be very awkward

Someone mentioned seeing Sam Russell in town. Didn't he wear #23?

If he has signed that’s massive for us. He is a top player and a top pro. Kane Wilson seams very highly rated and would play on the right. Winnie and Adams are quality in the middle. Collins is class just needs to up just work rate and play more. The new left winger looks promising and good back up for the fullbacks as well.
We still need a quality keeper another centre back a right winger and a striker.
Looking better though

If he has signed, it would be fantastic news. Let’s not get too excited just yet though.

Well if the 'big news' to be shared this week (as per FGR Twitter) is Joe Mills signing a new contract then I will be very happy. Not only will we have a very good full back at this level but, I sense, a very good leader on the pitch (and off it for that matter). If he has signed, he will become one of our all time favourites I think.

But maybe the big news is signing Sam Russell? Who knows until the official announcement.....

Can't see it being Russell, he only signed a new 3 year deal as a player/coach at Grimsby in March, plus given he's 38 I would think he'll mainly be coaching at this point, and we already have a goalkeeper coach.

As Luke 'proper no 1 ' McGee is 6'4", and neither Ash L or JM (if it were to happen ) are ;this is obviously bigger news . albeit i would be in dreamland if a 6'5" striker could be signed to make even bigger news .

76 inches of big news today then-excellent .
Dreamland awaits .

Agreed, would give us variety and a Plan B if not A. Olly Hawkins ex of Portsmouth could fit the bill

Good shout GD reference Olly Hawkins. At 6 foot 5 inches he is even taller than McGee. Not what I would call prolific but would get you 10 + goals a season. I see Brett Pitman has also been released but at 32 might be too old and probably cost loads.

Methinks if not signed yet he isn 't going to.

If he can get a 3 year contract (at 30yrs) elsewhere he grabs it .

We can but hope I am wrong.

i doubt it-especially for an 18 year old - but you never know-Jake Young could be 6'5 ''

I think many of us are thinking the same.
Would have loved to have seen him finish his career with FGR but if the call comes from a higher placed club nobody will blame him for signing.
If and when that happens I will wish him well and thanks him for his magnificent achievements with and for FGR.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
