Team for Tomorrow??

Postby jamsiep » Fri Mar 14, 2008 9:33 pm

Suspensions will force us into shuffling our defence and goalkeeper around, so what do other fans think that the line up will be??

Secondly, how quickly will this forum replace the old one?

Me too. I think Jones will probably move into the middle of the defence and Brough will move back to full back. I don't think we see the best of Brought there but Preece still isn't quite up to regular first team standard I don't think.

I think Welsh will again get in ahead of Dodger but I hope that Dodger gets a chunk of the game. Having seen Celi score at Weymouth I would think JH will keep faith with him in favour of DCB. I'm betting on Fleets getting onto the scoresheet today though. He is going to get a hattrick before the sewason is out I reckon - to rekindle transfer talk at the end of the season.

Its going to be tough though and the weather might keep the crowd down. We need a great result to brighten things up.

Jonah back to full back and Hardiker in the middle. Lawless further forward where he has been excellent.

I presume we are talking about the York game now...

It's hard to imagine many managers making many changes from the winning side from Saturday but JH is is not a typical manager. I would think Hardiker would be back in the starting line up but its hard to know who willbe sacrificed to make way. Lawless has been playing well and surely will keep his place so perhaps one of the wingers will have to be dropped. Dropping Celi is the other possibility but he may be coming back into form and why stop his progress now? I would think Robbo would keep his place after doing well on Saturday. We can't affords any abberations from whichever goalie starts tonight though.

I'll plump for:

Robbo
Jones, Hardiker, Giles, Tonkin
Afful, Lawless, Brough, Clist
Celi, Fleetwood

Subs: Burton, Preece, DCB, Stonehouse, Welsh

I think we have a reserve game at Plymouth tonight so I'm guessing that Pitman might go there and lead the team there. If not he will presumably be on the subs bench and helping with coaching and communication to the pitch as usual. If he has to be in Plymouth, he will be missed.

Robbo to continue in goal

Jones, Hardiker, Giles & Tonks is surely our best Back 4..?

Lawless, Brough, Clist and Welsh in midfield. Harsh on Pitman maybe, but lets not waste Clist out wide.

Celi and SSF up front. Hopefully Celi has turned a corner, form and fitness-wise - we all know how good he was when he first joined us.

don't think that the authorities would take too kindly to us playing with six subs!!

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
