That was the game in 2009 when Burton got sent off at 2-0 on 49:00 min.
The substitute goalie was Tom Pass the 18yr old Hartbury student who only had 1 start and 1 sub in his FGR career according to LMs site[/quote]

Yes Greeners you are spot on that's about 8 years ago, a long walk to the coach park. Just maybe a win will make
the walk shorter good luck..........

Cambridge 2-1 FGR. Want MC to go 442, try to grind out a point. Should play for a point away at the mo, try to gain confidence end be more expansive at home, this would be my 11, very controversial I admit,

Russell
Bennett, Roberts, Collins, Laird
Gomis, Osborne, Traore, Wish
Bugiel, Doidge

Subs, Charlie, Monthe, Nobes, Randell, Kmb.

Obvs if Bennett isn’t fit, think Evans has to be recalled from Torquay, Manny could play def midfield from bench, Nobes could come on for 4411, giving Doidge bit of a rest, Kmb could come on for 15 min cameo, score wonder goal! I know, I know.......

Would prefer 5 in midfield. Put Osbourne alongside Drissa in front of the back 4. We need to protect the defence by winning the battle in midfield. To do that we'll need numbers in there.

Is Osbourne fit enough to start though?

Cant see the rot being stopped here...

If we can play like we did against Swindon I'd go for a 1-1. Trouble is we always look like conceding with that Chelsea lad in goal. I'd start the same 11 as against Swindon (obviously Cooper suspended so bring in Wishart or Monthe in a role alongside Drissa, defensive 442) just need some steel in that middle area.
...Because we know Tranmere will come back but it's WOOLERY AT THE OTHER ENNNNNDDDD......GOAL 3-1 to Forest Green

Cambridge 2 - FGR 1.

Hoping to see fewer (or no) defensive mistakes, more pressure put on their midfield by Noble, Randall and Gomes and generally to see that Cambridge knew they'd been in a game.

3-0 Im afraid a big strong side who can bully they beat Coventry and on the Swindon performance I cannot see FGR getting anything.

Another near miss on a point.

What match are you comparing it to? Nothing this season.

I reckon 1-1 as I'm feeling optimistic.

I was thinking of the Swindon game. We were only 5 minutes away from scraping a point. I know I am clutching at straws though.

I see the vast majority, including me, are expecting a loss. Hopefully then, there won't be pages of moaning on here if those expectations are fulfilled.

I bet there is though.

An unexpected point or win would reduce the post match comment no end.

Recent history is 3 wins for Cambridge, 5 for FGR and 10 draws. September 2009 saw one of FGR's more painful results - 7-0

With no Cooper, possibly no Bennett and a cameo from Drissa it doesn't augur well. We looked a far worse side after the subs against Swindon and an open door down the right hand side. One imagines that it will be the same team that came off with maybe Stevens replacing Gomes in an attempt to stiffen the right flank, Drissa may or may not start. Cambridge have fielded the same starting eleven for the last four matches and it seems to be paying off for them.

Logic say's that we're in for a thrashing - but football isn't logical!

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
