Right now I’m more annoyed with Cooper than Noble. At least Noble left us.

What sort of reception will he get when Notts County visit on the 10th of March?

Tactless and classless IMHO :x

As others have said - the 'medical issue' reported did not stop him signing for Notts County almost immediately and the 'need to be with family' is not served by playing for a club which geographically is the best part of an 8 hour round trip by car from his 'home' in Newcastle.

Still cannot understand why Noble would sign a three year deal with FGR if 'being close to family' is so important.

I do admire the refusal of the club to publicly criticise Noble. But it all leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

I think part of the problem here is the clubs method of throwing money at problems and/or to make a statement. Nobel was probably unsettled by Notts County's approaches, which did seem to bend if not break the rules, and would have quite liked a move closer to home. The solution, give him a almost certainly lucrative contract probably with a signing on fee. Nobel decides he has made the wrong choice and finds a way out, maybe with a pay off as well.

The immediate signing for Notts was pretty unsubtle and suspicious though and makes the whole official story look a bit dodgy, Signing for a Yorkshire or Northern club would have looked less dodgy. However he doesn't start until January so that leaves a bit of credence in it. We will probably never know the whole story.

The bottom line: we miss out on a £100k transfer deal and have coughed up some other sum of money for a handful of mediocre performances and an unsettling time for the club at a pivotal stage in its history.

Is the improvement in performances since he left a coincidence?

Quite, The Cumbrian. One does have to wonder about that.

Bit of a combination I'd say. He is a quality player but not showed the same form this season so we have missed him less. But at the same time Osbourne has grown and grown as a player as his match sharpness/fitness has improved so I'd say it's a combination of both.

As always, we don't know the whole story. He would have had to pass his medical in order to have been signed by Notts Co. as our players do when they're being signed.

Also, we don't know if there's an exclusion clause in his FGR contract or contract release that covers this eventuality.

I thank Liam for his input last season.
However I believe some players are mercenaries & Liam may be one of those.
People that sign a 2/3 year contract after wanting a move back to their previous team are either devious or deluded or ill.
Only Liam knows the correct answer!!!!

Hero to zero. Let’s move on. Crass from Noble but he is no longer one of us and we need to focus on what we do have.

Last season most successful moves from midfield went through Nobel's insicive long range passing, players would pick him out rather than play the pass themselves. He was off form for whatever reason this season the whole thing falls apart. The attacks dry up, and the ball is lost while players faff about looking for alternatives. The rest of the midfield is growing up without him.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
