Personally I think the NHS are brilliant. The support available is excellent and the staff are helpful and understanding.

All their good work can easily be undone though by the DWP, who don't understand anything about mental health issues.

I recall having to sign on when I was still very ill. My 'advisor' was one of the least understanding, least sympathetic people I've met. I got benefit due to a regular fortnightly degradation. Later turned out I wasn't entitled to JSA as the assessor messed up and I'm still paying it back.

I ran into my 'advisor' recently and said my piece in a very polite manner. Her response was that the system doesn't allow her to show sympathy. You either tick the boxes or you don't.

If you have a noticeable disability you may qualify for ESA (if you're lucky!)

If you look OK? You're absolutely fine.

Like I said, they're clueless.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
