FA Cup 2nd round FGR v Exeter: match forecast

Postby The Old TomCat » Sun Nov 26, 2017 8:25 pm

FA Cup 2nd round v Exeter, the team who gave us a 1-3 drubbing earlier in November.
Since then our form has substantially improved while Exeter’s has dropped even though they remain 4th in EFL2.

On current form [6 games] FGR are 5th with 11 points from W W D W L D.
Exeter in same table are 15th with 7 points from L D W L L W.

Exeter are 19th in current away table with 5 points from L W D D L L
FGR are 18th in current home table with 7pts from L L L W W D.

Exeter beat Heybridge Swifts 3-1 at home in 1st round.
FGR beat Macclesfield 1-0 at TNL in same round.

My forecast: FGR 1-0 Exeter

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

FGR 1-1 Cheltenham

Just two perfect forecasts for game by Skunkman & RichE and four others with correct result.
There were 20 of us believing of a home win and 10 suspecting the worst with an away win.

Just as a bit of interest the Cheltenham guys had better predictions: 5 selected draws of which 3 were perfect 1-1 forecasts.
Four had an away and just one [me] had it has a home win. However I did forecast both goalscorers. :D

0-2. I'm looking forward to this one, no pressure really, lose and can concentrate on the league, win and maybe get a big name game.

I suspect Coops might ring the changes for this as a 1 off and some people to respond.

FGR 0 Exeter 2

I’m afraid it’s not going to be our year for the big Round 3 draw. I expect Exeter to be just too good especially with our midfield so depleted. Fingers crossed that Traore and Osbournecare fit but I don’t think MC will risk them both.

Worried that our midfield will be a bit thin after Saturday. Exeter blow hot and cold but looked a good side earlier in the season.
Think it will be closer than last time but maybe a 2-3 loss.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
