Swindon v FGR: match forecast

Postby The Old TomCat » Sun Dec 03, 2017 10:23 am

FGR now have three away games in a week in three different competitions starting against Swindon on Tuesday in the Checkatrade Trophy.
[For now Grimsby in EFL and Exeter in FA Cup can wait].

Swindon come to game off a 5-2 tanking at Stevenage in the FA Cup which will probably encourage their management team and players to put things right against FGR. I suspect Swindon will not be taking game very lightly.

Earlier is season when FGR were getting to grips with the higher level of EFL play and going through their dodgy period we were every bit as good as Swindon for most of game but lost in last minutes of match.
Swindon were then and remain one of the clubs sitting around the play off area, so Tuesday's match will be another test for the Village Club.
And how FGR approach game depends a lot on whether the club have some of the recently sidelined players fit and available for selection.

FGR optimistic as I always am, unfortunately I suspect this will be a home win for Swindon.

Hard to predict not knowing how much of the first team will be put out by both managers.

FGR squad players starting to get in amongst it now though after yesterday, so I have to go FGR 2-1 Swindon.

Looking forward to being stood in the open terrace ;)

I have no idea what the result will be, but i simply hope that MC plays his absolute strongest team.

realistically-there is more chance of winning this game than the exeter replay, and its vital imo to progress in the cups (hopefully both ).

don't hold back-one game at a time.

lets win this one, get prize money ,and go on to win the checkatrade trophy at wembley

Are we predicting the score at 90 minutes? Will there be extra time and penalties if the scores are level?

"Matches will be of ninety minutes duration, with no extra time. If the scores are level then the Match will be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark (in accordance with the procedure laid down in the IFAB Laws of the Game)."

Given the injuries and the run of games to come, Cooper may be forced to send some of the kids out for this one.

Swindon 0 FGR 1. I agree that we may have a few youngsters in. But Cooper is likely to be back for at least some of the game and Stevens may get a game. Swindon may be struggling too and that we will want it more on the night. So I'm going for a narrow win and think . Hoping so.

Think with how stretched we are it's going to be tough, not sure how bothered Swindon are by this competition though so going for 1-1, with us actually winning on penalties for once.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
