He looks a good prospect, but this is a big step up for him.

An ex-pro footballer I know thinks he is the real deal. Told me he dribbles like George Best!

Very interesting signing. Will have a point to prove moving up 2 leagues. Lets hope there’s a few more lined up. Will take an interest in WSM results till Jan.

Dayle is a good prospect and for those getting carried away he is a midfielder at WSM, where he has been in great form this season and the latter part of last term. Won Player of the Month award in April and has been catching the eye in VNLS but it is a step up and he is 26 yrs of age.

Scotty B always raved about him.

Wish him all the best when he arrives. And will be interesting to see how the second half of the season goes for WSM without him. Whatever fee was paid will be useful to the Seagulls but quality is hard to find locally.

Only downside is wonder how the photograph on the main club website was approved of him wearing a shirt with McDonald's on it. Where is the vegan policy.........

I was wondering 12 months ago why Grubb was still playing at that level. Has been very impressive for a while now.

I guess we needed another Dayle to balance the Jordans. Pleased to meet you last night and a warm welcome. As one of Scottie's W-s-M proteges you have impeccable credentials. Good that you have until 1st January to find your feet

Welcome to the club. Good to see some decisive action in the transfer window and hopefully we have found a non league gem. Certainly a lot of positive reports from people I know who have seen him play.

Just need Danny Pugh, Marc Pugh, Barney McGrew (what do you mean, never heard of him?), Scott Cuthbert and Christian Dibble, and we've got them all!

Interesting that nobody has taken a punt on him before - and it is a bit of a stretch IMHO calling a 26 year old a 'prospect'. But as neither James, Randall or Gomes (possibly because of injury) seem to be giving us much attacking threat, I think we needed to try and sign someone of this ilk. I really hope Dayle settles in and can contribute on the pitch.

Shame we didn't get Windy (ricky) Miller. Hope it works out for Grubb.

Seems good to me.

frankly-don't really need 'prospects'-just need people who can immediately step up to the plate-and at 26 -he probably has the strength of body and mind to do that.

so much better imo ,than getting fluffy lightweight 19 year olds who are so called ' great prospects' and also at 19-maybe are just as interested in their social lives..

This thread reminded me of listening to a radio commentary many years ago, involving Charlton Athletic, when the commentator proudly announced that the Charlton back four was Young, Fish, Costa, Fortune...to much merriment.

I wanted to check whether that was really the case and found the following article, proving it did happen, which also has some other hilarious combinations (not all suitable to post here):

Colleague of mine who plays in the Ryman Prem. says there are quite a few players he has faced who are very talented and could easily play at a higher level. However, you have to take into account that not everyone wants to play full-time soccer, because of a number of factors = lack of ambition, lack of confidence, and are comfortably well-off in their present job. This is the case with the hot-shot from Dorking who is self-employed and courted by many league clubs, but is so well-off he has no need to gamble with a soccer career, and risks losing his current employment.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
