Dale Bennett Ban

Postby Green Devil » Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:27 pm

Just announced on Radio Glos that Bennett has received a 3 match retrospective ban following Saturday’s fracas. Will be missed over the next few games.

Same as a straight red card then which I guess it would have been if referee had seen it !!!

So I take it that means he'll miss Grimsby, Exeter and Luton. He'll be a miss but we'll have to cope. I would put Laird at right back for those games with Wishart, who's been playing very well recently, at left back.

That’s a big blow but we were lucky not to lose him to a red card on Saturday. It was retaliation with a punch of sorts to the back of the Exeter player’s head.

I’d play Randall in a straight swap and hope he can use his pace to defend as well as attack. But maybe Fitz will be back and Roberts will continue in the centre.

I'd rather play a right footed player at right back - we've tried left backs at right back before and they tend to get roasted !! If we play 3 centre backs then we could get away without a natural right back. Perhaps an extra option when Monthe comes back is to play him there ? And what happened to Evans wasn't he cover for right back? Is he still at Torquay?

Manny is left footed as is Callum Evans.

We have no cover at all out of the 28 playing squad.

The likelihood is that Fitzwater will have to take on the role.

Simple its in the discipline rules and often happens.

All EFL matches are scrutinised for such acts. By doing that it hopefully across the whole season improves matches and discipline amongst players knowing they cannot get away with it anymore. Having said that it has been in the FA rules for years.

Apparently it was in the Ref’s report. Whilst he didn’t see the incident, he did ask for the matter to be reviewed subsequently. Luckily for us Bennett was allowed to continue for the remainder of the game.

Dale got his marching orders last night as well I understand...you have to accept defenders collecting a certain amount of yellow cards over the course of a season as a bit of an 'occupational hazard' - but he is too important to us to be picking up bans for misbehaving

To be fair the ref seemed to have it in for Dale last night.

The days of players misbehaving are gone - everyone is under such scrutiny and you can no longer do what you want.Players must learn from that and it is needs to be reinforced by managers.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
