Exeter v FGR: match forecast

Postby The Old TomCat » Thu Dec 21, 2017 5:17 pm

2nd game of the holiday period.
Unusual to start an upcoming fixture forecast thread when still the Carlisle game to be played.
But I suspect most of us, including me, won't be bothering too much with the FGR forum between games so here's an early chance to enter your forecast before Xmas drunkenness descends.
I'll update both the Carlisle and Exeter game threads a day after Exeter.

At the moment Exeter are 11th in current form [6 games] with 9 pts from W L L W L W.
They are 5th in home form with 12 pts from W L L W W W
During that period FGR secured a 90 minute draw in the FA Cup [only to lose it in extra time]

Currently Exeter's results are not better than at start of season when they topped table and beat FGR at home.
Their home form is a bit erratic but has settled down with three successive wins.

During the FA Cup game FGR were better team for most of match but Exeter will obviously change their tactics to deal with any threat. Likewise FGR.
Exeter don't seem to do draws so I'm going for an away win: Exeter 1-2 FGR

Can't decide without knowing Carlisle result and performance first.

Exeter when they came out for the second half and before the sending off were much better than Exeter of the first half and I imagine they will be nearer that level on the day. Another head Vs heart. Head says they will take more of their chances and win 3-1. Sadly.

Very tempting to agree with this this but I am hoping Osbourne can play again, that Reece Brown is back and that we see some sort of positive reaction from the team after yesterday.

I'll go Exeter 1 FGR 1 and hope like crazy.

Last time there was a dreadful performance at home was Newport. We then went to Coventry on the following Tuesday with everyone expecting a heavy defeat and we won 1.0 (albeit with a rather fortunate goal). You never know. But I’m not sure it helps for the manager to keep saying ‘roll on January’ when the transfer window opens when we still have games to play in December.

Can't see this squad of players winning another game, no confidence, lack of faith in the so called system there are asked to play, no faith in the manager as most of the supporters, time for big changes before it's to late.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
