I saw he's posted a 'story' that shows him on the road. It says Birmingham City FC with a pin next to it. Doesn't necessarily mean he's on the move, but we shall see. Shame if he does go as he's impressed me in recent weeks going forward.

I'll be gutted if we lose Dan but I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I'm sure his brilliance will not have gone unnoticed by others. Unfortunately.

It's your fault NFR, up until you started bigging him up hardly anyone realised he was good, now everyone knows.

I have to say I do rate dan, he's great going forward, just needs to improve delivery a bit but in fairness we only ever one player in the box!

I don't know if I have said this before, I've been ranting a bit lately, but I wonder if Dan's as strong as he has always been, and the reason that he looks good now is because we have lost some keep players and the rest of the squad are not playing as well as a team.

Well if we are still looking at Dillon Phillips as a possible replacement goalkeeper, it may be some time yet.

Club just texted to say we're signing a striker today, not heard any rumours who that might be bar the usual speculation based on not about Ricky Miller a bit back when it sounded like he might be available.

Do players get " cup tied" in CT trophy? If so we could be struggling to name a strong team and opportunity for some of the younger players.

Haydn Hollis is FGR’s sixth signing of the transfer window after leaving Notts County.

Your wish has been granted, Haydn Hollis from Notts County. 6 foot 3, left sided defender, 18 month contract.

HH came through the Notts County School of Excellence and loaned out a few times but has been a 1st team since Season 2012-13 and has scored 8 goals.
Worryingly HH has had only one appearance this season in the League Cup where he scored a goal.
He seems to scored a goal at first game at most of clubs he's played for.

Seems like a squad rotation player to me... No more then that.. Suppose if your going to play 3 centre backs you are going to need 2 reserves (being Manny and Haydn...) certainly isn't the same WOW as the other three.

We desparately need a goalkeeper.. Here is hoping for some news this week.

I'd stick with Lee Collins IMHO at the moment.. He's doing a fantastic job.

Good signing but I can't help thinking we are now a little overstocked at CB and a little short at right wing back and central midfield. Bennett is injured and hasn't played well all season, Evans is nowhere near good enough as backup, Laird looks uncomfortable in his own position let alone out of it. Central midfield we have no depth at all, although signing Hollis may free up Collins to play there more.
Still, a good League 2 quality signing that should strengthen the team. Welcome Haydn!

Interesting - a third centre back

I wonder if this means we may see Lee Collins in central midfield more? Or has Hollis merely been signed as cover/competition for a starting centre back spot?

It certainly suggests MC didn't much rate the central defenders he had at his disposal prior to this January!

MC quoted as saying there are still 'a couple more to get over the line' - I still think we need an experienced goalkeeper (23 to 26) and possibly a right back/right wing back? I think we have seen to our cost so far this season the de-stabilising effect of not having a settled defence.

After Doidge and Reid, James is also starting to look like the only other striking option left, although I guess KMB can play as 'second striker' at a push.

Happy to play Lee Collins at right back while Dale is out injured, probably the most consistent defender and most improved player this season. Dale very rarely makes the lung-busting runs that have always been his trade mark which means Collins is a good fit in that position. No reason why Hollis couldn't play on the left in defence, he must surely be more dependable than Laird whose defending is appalling and another free kick on Saturday that cleared the stand!! He came to the club with a reputation a a free-kick specialist! !

I would like to see another Osborne type player. When he was out we really suffered.

That MC has first hand experience of working with HH from his Notts County days is a comfort - this is not a punt taken on some money-ball algorithm.

But this means we now cannot fit all CBs in the FGR squad in one family car, while the CMs can fit in a convertible. We really need another Osbourne-type battler to gather the 20+ points we need between now and May.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
