Yeovil v FGR in Checkatade Trophy

Postby The Old TomCat » Sun Jan 07, 2018 8:59 am

Little loved and little supported competition shown by fact that the club are not organising a supporter's coach for Tuesday.
Nevertheless there will be more than a few of us at match supporting our team.
Although an away game I expect all the travelling supporters to be confident of progress in tournament.
Yeovil are currently having a less than successful period and it is a good time for FGR to play them.
And besides I am getting used to FGR's annual trip to Wembley :D

Neither team can play new players who are cup bound which will probably affect FGR more than Yeovil, but it will give a chance for some non regular first teamers the opportunity to shine.

I forecast a close game with FGR progressing perhaps in extra time.
Therefore Yeovil 1-1 FGR at full time and a 0-1 FGR win in extra time.

Rawson but no Gunning or Ried I suspect, which is a shame as Doidge could do with a rest. I expect Grubb and whittle to start and KMB Stephens and Simpson to get a decent run out.

Supporting CUFC 6 finals 2 wins I expect fan interest to pick up as the rounds progress and Coops seems keen to take it seriously.

Yoevil 1 FGR 1 FGR on pens with 'he's a half decent shot stopper' Bradley saving a couple.

Chance for a few out of favour players to stake a claim again now the new boys have put the pressure on.

Sorry, my error.
Straight to ABBA penalty kicks.

With that in mind I change my forecast to a straight 0-1 away win for FGR.

Very much hope the 'strongest' team is played to progress to the next round and beyond.

Yeovil 0 FGR 1

But who knows how seriously either team will make this. I think we will be up for it since there are few players who need to prove themselves and a few new relationships to build.

Very dependent on team selection but I'm going for Yeovil 2-0 Forest Green

Also no supporters coach, what's the deal with that?? We spent all our history in non league then during our first season in the big time we don't take competitions seriously...really Forest Green, really
...Because we know Tranmere will come back but it's WOOLERY AT THE OTHER ENNNNNDDDD......GOAL 3-1 to Forest Green

I take it Gunning, Rawson and Reid are cup tied? Think we'll go strong other then that, with Grubb and Whittle making their full debuts.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
