where is this fixture pile up originating from ?

If it was 3 games a week and you are part time (billericay ) maybe , but 6 games a week is hardly raising a sweat-and in september/october - 7 games per month were played as a matter of 'routine '

And the weather might also take out the Newport game on Tuesday.
Real fixture pile up but fortunately other teams are suffering same fate.

Newport's home game tomorrow was already marked as cancelled yesterday, without a thaw Tuesday surely can't be on and with a thaw it will probably be a mud bath which was why it was called off previously wasn't it.

There was no more snow overnight in Cheshire. It was bitterly cold and a howling wind, but that has blown a lot of the snow away. There was about 3 inches on our patio last night, now about an inch deep. Forecast temperature rise to 3C. today and tomorrow.

Newport already once postponed and now possibly for second time.
Crewe match likely to be suspended.
Those games must be fitted in before end of season which is getting closer.
Besides there are plenty of supporters who will be unable to attend any mid-week games; ie loss of income for home team.

And of course having too many games in a short period does not allow the players to fully recover.
Diminishes the game spectacle which often end up as bore draws.

Fixture pile-ups are inevitable whether it be for extreme bad weather or during a Cup run taking precedent. In the past few years FGR have been fortunate in not having that many games off. This club and others will overcome that obstacle but it will be awful for any club to be demoted because their most talented but tired player gets himself seriously injured and out for rest of season.

Just read following on Twitter which had a photo of TNL covered in deep snow:
"The reception and gym at The New Lawn will remain closed today due to the adverse weather conditions."

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
