FGR League position 2019 sponsored by PITCHFORK

This competition is open to all those who have signed up for Old Tom Cat's predictions this coming season.(not too late to do this) There are already lots of thoughts on how the season will pan out on the thread below.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=94082

You can pay £5 (leave at reception in an envelope named OLD TOM CAT) and enter this, goals, top scorer and perhaps other one off competitions. The winner of the league prediction competition will receive £40

We used to have to fight to survive in the National League, then we achieved 10th for 3 consecutive years...then 5th, 2nd and finally 3rd and promotion in 2017. Last year we struggled in Division 2 but survived. This year our final position likely to be far better ....but will we struggle, secure mid table or be in with a shout of the play offs? We certainly gave Leeds & Bristol Rovers good games and they are Championship/ Division 1 sides.

Last season we were 21st - Roy of the Rovers picked up the winnings with his prediction of 19th

PREDICTIONS to date

3rd (7 lost) stewjacksam
4th (10 lost) Glen
5th ( 8 lost) Fartvs
6th (15 lost) It is now
7th (11 lost) New Forest Rover
7th (12 lost) smertens
8th (10 lost) greeners junior
8th (12 lost) candy
8th (15 lost) Old Tom Cat
9th (18 lost) Redunited
10th (15 lost) Kentstipe
12th (17 lost) Pitchfork, (16 lost) John Whiffen, (18 lost) Michael
13 (16 lost) Linfield
16th Redrobin
17th (21 lost ) Tommo
18th (20 lost) Silver Surfer
18th (22 lost) Voodooblesman

You have the August league games to look at results, assess the squad's potential and the quality of the opposition.

All predictions must be in before the first game in September. (Notts County away 1/9)
NO EDITING AFTER YOU HAVE POSTED!

So what will be our league position after our 4/5/19 game at home against EXETER...... and as a tie breaker, how many league matches will we lose?

Post predictions below (games lost - if tie breaker needed)

Thanks for predictions to date - they really aren't very different from 2017, despite the consensus our squad is better than this time last year. Does this reflect better opposition or the fact we now understand how tough division 2 is? I suspect the latter.

Whatever, the first month's matches are against strong opposition

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
