Comedy Night - 25th February in the Carol Embrey Suite

Postby bengreen on Fri Feb 05, 2010 5:03 pm

The end of the month sees the return of laughter to Forest Green with a great line-up for the evening of Thursday 25th February. So we'd love to see a full house for lots of this      !

The acts will include Demitris Deech, Ian Fox, Helmut (one of Germany's finest stand up comics on tour - must be seen!!) and Duncan ‘guitar’ Oakley. The evening promises to be a great one, with the bar will be open from 7pm and hot food available on the night. The first act will be on stage at approximately 8pm.

Tickets are only £7.50 each and if you order a table of 10 before the 19th of February, you’ll only pay £65! Please note that this event is for adults (18+) only.

Call to book tickets today.

I notice that we have started to use the forum to advertise events etc. I've no complaint that it's advertised but surely the Main Website and the Five Valleys and Conference Website should be carrying the events first.

The Five Valley and Conference Website is out of date, still advertising the Blues Brothers and nothing else, who is keeping this up dated? Hope we are not paying for an expensive website and not using it.

The forum is a quick and easy outlet, but not the area where new customers would look.

Come on Commercial, the club needs money.

Isn't this the same evening as the shareholder meeting. Perhaps it will be a short meeting and we can pile into this event immediately afterwards?

Yes I noticed this Tommo but refrained from commenting on the simultaneous events for obvious reasons.

I hope the organisers are aware of the timings ( perhaps it was done deliberately to tempt more to the comedy) or the attendances will be affected

Dear All,

Indeed the timing isn't perfect with the two events happening on the same night and we were aware of the clash, but diary spaces left no other options. Still, we are hoping that the comedy evening will attract a decent crowd. We are sorry that those who need to attend the meeting will miss out, but maybe they can bring along a group of friends for the comedy and then all meet up for the last couple of acts and a drink afterwards (assuming the Shareholders meeting finishes at a reasonable hour)!

LM, you're totally right about the FVC website and we are hoping to get that updated very soon indeed. Unfortunately I do not have the access required, so am waiting on a technical chap who does (and I fear he may be out of the country). Our mistake.

As regards where we advertise, we're just trying to get it out to as many as we can via any means possible, so I am hoping that all those who read the forum make sure all their friends know what we have going on up here at the Club.

Thanks,

B

P.S. LM shall I put your name down for a table of 10?!

Ben, maybe the events page under the heading COMMERCIAL could be updated.

Good idea - as now advertised on the main page - to offer those attending the Shaeholders Meeting a discounted ticket proice for the show. Very enterprising I think

Time to bring this back to the top of the list!

Don't forget that if you, your friends, your family, their friends, the neighbours, the neighbours family and their friends fancy a good night out, it is Comedy Night this Thursday.

Shareholders attending the meeting on the same night will be able to purchase tickets for £5 and we are hopeful that the meeting will be finished with enough time to enjoy the two main acts. Tickets for non-shareholders cost £7.50, or a table of 10 for only £65.

Hot food will be available to buy on the night and the doors will be open at 7pm. The first act will be on stage around 8.15/8.30pm.

Finally you'll be glad to know that I am not taking to the stage! I look forward to seeing many of you on Thursday.

For five quid (or even £7=50) this is less than £2 per comedian. Surely that can tempt people in for a laugh ??

Talking of which I was in the Green Man on Saturday when an Englishman and Irishman and a Scotsman walked in.

Paula turned round and said "What is this ? Some kind of Joke ?"

So let's have this top of the pile again - in just over 24 hours you could be rolling around laughing at the Lawn......come on get yourself up there for £7-50 and have a good time at a bargain price.

i walked in there with a set of jump leads, and the barman said "I'll serve you, as long as you promise you won't start anything"

Is that comedian Mr H appearing again, telling that joke about how he is going to get us promoted to the football league next season...

It will make a refreshing change to watch a comedy show indoors in the warm rather than outdoors facing the pitch!
