As I didn't put one in earlier and Bill S has reminded us of the works of A J Cronin with Dr Finlay, I would add his earlier protagonist Dr Andrew Manson in the Welsh valleys

Sorry. Forgot the "fictional" bit. I will change my effort to:
7. Dr Strange.

Forgetting the landed gentry

I am picking Jack Nicholson triple oscar winner.

The category is actors but nowadays that includes ladies of the realm
Or is it just men and therefore will the next category be actresses.

Then seeing your baron I would pick a monarch

Judy Dench as Victoria or Olivia Coleman has Queen Anne.

So following on from the other posts.....

Good choice. I loved him in The Big Lebowskj and The Fisher King.

I'll nominate 6) Anthony Hopkins for his portrayal in Remains of the Day.

Hi

With actresses nowadays wanting to be called actors, I think the Oscars should recognise that and only have categories for Leading Actor and Supporting Actor.
Bet the Actor/esses would complain about that though

This thread has fallen asleep and needs waking up.
Two more male actors needed.

I’ll add one and the next person to post will be able to start a new top ten.

9) Stephen Graham
It doesn’t matter who he plays......he always does it brilliantly.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
