Only my opinion but don’t think anagrams should be allowed.
I used anagram solver & came up with Shoestring within seconds.
I’m not saying the others did the same but it’s far too easy to cheat now rather than use your brain!

I admit I use Google when I’m either posting or trying to solve clues but you don’t need to work out anagrams anymore because Google does it for you!

I knew it was an anagram of the two words those and rings, from the wording of the clue, wrote them on a piece of paper and saw the answer...I didn't cheat or use a computer to do that!

I will try and think of a cryptic clue tomorrow morning, I'm too tired now.

Working out the anagram is the easy part and not really the point. The challenge is to know that the clue includes and anagram and if so which words from the clue are part of it.

Yes.
Look at the second clue. If you can work it out, it will tell you the answer.

Somewhere green in the capital = a place in London
Something green = a tree
Well-liked but leaving U out = popular minus the ‘u’

Poplar is the answer.

Your turn Foggy.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
