Nice comments about FGR from the mouth of Super-Stuart Fleetwood. An interesting piece on Gloucestershire Live - for a change!

I saw on the local news last night Darren Perrin is now chairman of Melksham! For all you more recent fans, Darren is the brother of Steve Perrin who was a goalkeeper for us in the 90's and early 00's, Darren was a coach under Addison, Spink, Gregan etc and was very highly thought of. I'm sure others will shed light on Darren's time at our club.

Darren has done a great job at a super little club. They have an impressive stadium,, tremendous community backing and a huge number of youth teams.
Today they play Thatcham in the quarter finals of the F.A Vase.

Absolutely true p/f. They have 42 youth teams and 16 pitches. They share the stadium with the rugby club who also have two pitches.
They lost the game against Thatcham 1-0 and had two players sent off, so not the result they wanted.

If you are at stranded at home thanks to the 'Beast from the East', then you may like to listen to the 'Beast from Barnsley', the one and only Parky

https://soundcloud.com/undrthecosh/ep1- ... jon-parkin

Talks about FGR at around 45:45, but it's all worth a listen. ( language warning!)

Cheers for that PF , was a good listen and nice to hear The Beast being complimentary about the club and its quirkiness. :D

Thanks PF. Good listen, and speaks volumes for Dale and what he has achieved with the 1800 old supporters.

Glad you both gave your ears some 'Parky Time'. I particularly smiled at his reference to our older clientele ( although the % of 60+ has decreased since JP was here) and our applause, when the numbers of visiting fans are announced - one of the laudable characteristics of our club.

Now that's why I follow forest green. Coming from Parky just shows how blooming lucky we are to have been taken over by Ecotricity.

Just back from Worthing 2 v Billericay 1 - bumper crowd of 1162 braving the cold and rain.Aaron R is still here taking the warm-up, and bumped into Omar B after the game - asked him about Bromley and he said he was glad to get some game time in now. Some very interesting comments re:FGR from him, but wished him well and looking forward to his return to us a better and more experienced player ready for a full pre-season.

Omar is out of contract in the summer. Do you think he'll get a new deal?

Worthing FC for superb bread-pudding. Got the gut feeling that Omar might not be with us next season, but cannot say too much on here.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
