Guthrie captains England team.

Kurtis should rightly be very proud of his sister

I think Joseph Mills is quicker and trickier over the 100 metres and is a capable wingback doing his thing, whereas Elliot is an out and out winger who requires a fullback in support, a la Bennet R/R.

Imagine Frear in front of Mills and them overlapping though FA...

They've now got 2 strikers who scored 50 goals between them last season. I imagine they're going to be seriously challenging for promotion.

Tasty thought. It'd be like watching that old toy - a slinky - going down the stairs.

Good to see Keanu get another chance at Wembley.

But Tranmere go through...

At least we keep a relatively close derby game. Newport will be very strong next year though, with all the money from today and the FA Cup. My current favourites for promotion

Funny how Tranmere wear opposition down to 10 men! :o

And who was involved for the third match in a row - NORWOOD.

He is worth so much more than just his goals. We know, from when he played with us, how volatile he can be. He seems to be better at channelling that now to wind the opposition up and frustrate them so they foul him and force the refs to make a decision. He gets away with a lot more now but wins fouls and red cards to create advantage way beyond his goal count.

Norwood off to Ipswich. Tranmere might struggle without him. I thought he might have stayed to see if he could help them get s third promotion in a row and become a legend there but it seems not. Good luck to him. Talented guy if not always likeable.

Dont think Elliot would come back - wasn't he one of those to choose the away dressing-room in the spat with MC, with all those who did, departing the club quickly ( a la my namesake ) ?.

No, he'd already left by then. That was alleged to have happened in March of that season, Elliot joined Motherwell in January. Issue with him was his agent Danny Coles allegedly feeding stories to the Citizen to try and force a move.

Now that quite a few days have passed, back to the Play-Offs

Mansfield & FGR certainly suffered ill luck and awful refereeing decisions. But I guess these things even themselves out over 48 or 49 games and if we are honest, the Crewe game was pivotal. That said, what a season of unbelievable success - how far our club has come! It will be harder next year as we are no longer under the radar, but our core of young players will be better too and I have faith that we'll come out of the transfer toing & froing in good shape

Tranmere were the better team at Wembley and also play a far higher quality of football. The Newport manager bemoaned being denied a penalty for Manny's challenge on Matt late on, but conveniently overlooked 2 penalties denied Tranmere in the first half. Oh and that atrocious one awarded against Mansfield, the only goal scored by his team in the play-offs. No, the right team won

Nors may be infuriating (as is Connor Jennings), but he has proved his point about playing up front, and in some style. If he's off to Ipswich, good luck to him. However, I reserve most praise for Manny Monthe who was superb over the 3 telling games. He may not be the complete centre back yet, but in Play-offs he is a player you'd want on your side - 3 from 3.

Which was the best team going into the play-offs? Based on the 2 League games against us and what I saw on the box, I reckon Mansfield. Maybe they got pulled into Newport's physical, one dimensional approach, but on their day they pass like us but are more physical and perhaps sharper up front? Sacking Flitcroft was crazy but may help FGR next year?

Best wishes to Elliott. He's a very personable guy and a skilful player. But as others have pointed out, an out and out left winger may be difficult to place in an age of wing backs. Still, there will always be a smile on my face when I think about Elliott & KMB tearing some NL sides apart, switching wings and giving defenders 'mares. And that much used piece of video - Elliott jumping above a sliding tackle at sodden Aldershot and the defender disappeared off the pitch! Ah, jumpers for goalposts .....

He's hardly started a game for Newport, and their fans aren't exactly complimentary. Seems to be regarded as one of Flynn's few failures in the transfer market.

Guyana obviously see something Newport don't.
