Not bad for a player some considered not good enough for the conference.

Or play him on the wing.

Sometimes players improve and hindsight is wonderful. E.g, in another sport, at one time Steve Smith's main strength was his bowling and he wasn't very good at that.

Under JH Nors would probably have played in the Fleetwood/Mangan role and flourished imo, always had all the attributes and still scored around 50 goals from the wing. Under DH he was part of a confused system but still did well, whereas I don't think AP ever really rated him and eventually got rid.

Always liked him and wanted to see him up front, I know he missed quite a few but so did Fleetwood and Mangan, and I suspect that like them he would have got through so often it wouldn't have mattered to much.

In fairness to Nors, his 'beef' at FGR was that he was a central forward, not a winger. Also, he was younger and more hot headed.

Countless goals as a forward since leaving FGR suggests he has won the argument

If you watch the FL highlights on Quest on a Saturday, He's made afew this season, and if it isnt him - its the defenders in front of him.

Did anyone else watch Ben Liddle play for Middlesbrough in the FA Cup against Spurs last night on the BBC?

This time last year, he wasn't good enough to get in the FGR first team.
Sometimes 90 minutes is just not enough.

I must confess I didn't recognise him. If I recall correctly he played LB last night whereas for us he was a CDM.

Been bombed out of pretty much every club he's played for. Never seems to learn.

Another for Doidge this afternoon. He was voted 2nd best player in the Hibs team today too. He seems to be continuing to find his feet at that level

And Doidge makes it 11 for Hibs tonight.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
