Thought it might be worth having a separate thread in General Chat for this topic.

To start it off - Lee Hughes has signed for Ilkeston FC:

Who is the oldest former FGR player still playing competitive football in the pyramid?

Hughes sent off yesterday. I think he may have lost the plot.

Leads with his elbows and has an air of aggression when plays. I fear is Northern Premier League stay may be short-lived, especially if part of his 'deal' is to bring the youngsters on. Hardly a great example to set. There will no doubt be a few old timers in the NPL that see Hughes as a bit of a scalp to take....

I thought he'd retired in 2014, last club Sutton Town FC.

Not sure if he's still playing this season but he was player/assistant manager at Glapwell FC last season and actually scored the only goal in their final game at home to Hanworth Colliery Institute.

taken from the aldershot forum tonight:

After just one viewing, I think we need to get rid of the journeymen Oliver and Barnes-Homer!

Is it re-assuring that they are making the same consistent impression at aldershot ?

Of more interest is someone who wasn't playing on Tuesday. James Norwood wasn't even on the bench. Does anyone know if he's injured?

whilst previously he has been injured ,It seems he is struggling to make an impact (and tranmere keep on signing more and more forwards ).
Interesting other post on here with the comparison with Andre Gray.

from my perspective- i am surprised that anyone is surprised that he seems to be struggling

Not sure whether Nors is injured

He is a talent, of that I have no doubt. Also he's our leading scorer and with more consistent selection would have notched 20 goals for the third successive season in 2014/15. That deserves respect - he has nothing to prove at Conference level.

But he needs a coach, not a manager. I did not believe Tranmere was a good move for that reason and that it also takes him far away from his West country roots. Still hope for good things for him, though not at our expense!

All speculation now, but I rather believe that he'd have enjoyed being at FGR this term given Ady's blossoming partnership with Jamie Day. Marsh Brown is playing in a similar way to Nors (so far without the goals) and it is to be hoped that better decision making will develop and be allied to his obvious skills and pace.

As I said, like Nors
