I shall be writing to any schools who have not appointed ambassadors over the next few weeks. If you know of a Primary or Secondary School child who may be interested, please check if they have a current ambassador.

If they are not on this list I would be grateful if you would let me know.

All our 2017-18 ambassadors will complete their year as the season ends in May. They will have recorded all the activities they have completed to promote FGR since their schools appointed them. I shall be writing to their schools in March & April to see if they wish to have an ambassador again for next season. Although parents can suggest names, it is the school that must choose the ambassador.

The target for the end of the school year (July) is 40 schools, 60 ambassadors. Schools are allowed to appoint two ambassadors if they are a boy & a girl.

Delighted to have our first 10 ambassadors signed up for 2018-19 - these students are from 7 different schools, 3 of those new to the programme this year.

Of course the ambassador scheme is not mainly about numbers. The aim is to appoint young people to the role who are proud to be associated with Forest Green Rovers and can make a difference. This is both in terms of promoting the club in their schools and home communities and in volunteering their time to help out, especially on match days.

Schools have different ways of selecting their ambassadors, but I hope this is done in a fair and transparent way. As long as a school ambassador has provided evidence that they have shown commitment to FGR over the season, I am happy for the school to renew the appointment for more than one season.

We're up to 25 ambassadors signed on for 2018-19, eighteen of these new to the role. I've contacted another interested 20 schools today, so feeling pretty confident we will reach the target of 40 schools by the end of the summer term.

There will be a meeting for ambassador families on the evening of Thursday July 5th and I'm hoping as many ambassadors as possible can join the players in the squad photo on the morning of Mon 30 July.(new date)

Last season's ambassadors did an excellent job, both in promoting the club and helping out on match days. Half of them received badges for completing a range of tasks throughout the season, fourteen were highly commended at the awards ceremony and two were crowned ambassadors of the year. These were:

Primary Ambassador of the Year

Olly Young - Berkeley Primary

Secondary Ambassador of the Year

Evie Urquhart - Rednock School, Dursley
