Richard Joyce made redundant?

Postby FGR123 » Sat Jul 08, 2017 5:36 pm

Anyone else see the tweet from Sam Wedgebury saying he was shocked to hear about Joycey being made redundant from FGR. I read it early this morning but since then he's deleted it and I haven't seen any other news. I'm assuming this isn't true? Anyone able to confirm this?

I seriously hope that this is not the case. Joycie does so much for FGR and his enthusiasm is genuine and infectious.

Surely can't be true, the guy is a legend and a massive part of the Club. As for redundancy I would have thought more than ever his services would be required in League 2. He has come on leaps and bounds since doing his college/uni work and is part of the FGR fabric.

This must not be correct.
What on earth was Sam up to? And why?

Just a thought was he employed by ecotricity and now possibly FGR fully?
Very strange otherwise

I saw this last night US time, figured I would see some new this morning. Didn't understand the term "redundant"? Meaning he was let go from the club?

Surely that must be a mistake, especially since he is the Press Officer and FGR will need one in League 2, you can't make somebody redundant and then replace him or you will end up at a tribunal.

Not the kind of thing that gets made up, surely?!

He's a massive part of our club and I hope there is some kind of misunderstanding here...

I imagine that financial fair play does mean some tough decisions need to be made, but like someone above says, we will need a press officer.

Why would that happen?

If its not true and the post was wrong the club could easily say otherwise. In which case I take it to mean it is true.

I literally can't understand it and I'm gutted for the fella if it's true.

He's a big part of the club and as had been shown on here time and time again is well loved by the fans. I can't think of many people who give as much to their role as him. Perhaps the club have underestimated this in the way it's been handled?

None of us know what's happened behind the scenes.

If true it may be a blessing in disguise for joycie, bigger and better job offers may be available!

If true will be really bad news for Joicie and the club in my opinion.

Especially the club who would be without a bleeding Press Officer!

What is going on??

Hope this isn't true, but if it is it would seem that this isn't the only redundancy being made at Ecotricity.

Such a shame for the club and Rich. Surprised it happened under Pitchforks reign but there must be reasons.

It's already been confirmed that Rich will be on the radio on a few occasions next season.

Very disappointed with DV - Joycie was an asset to FGR and should have been with us in our entry to League 2. I will tell DV my feelings at the Barnet game when i see him.

If replaced by a better and more experienced press officer then I'm afraid that's football . Joycie is a top lad for through and through and I'd give him a chance. But no one is unsackable. I hope all this has a good outcome. But as the football club progresses so will the staff on and of the pitch

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
