Forest Green Rovers London Branch

Postby Peter » Sun Oct 22, 2017 6:28 pm

I saw my first FGR game on Saturday and was highly impressed by the way the team played. They played with structure and confidence. We are starting a FGR London Branch to try to co-ordinate going to games and hopefully sharing travel to matches. There are so many potential FGR fans in London and hopefully we can build a massive fan base.

Good idea. And I'm definitely up for it. There must be a lot more than a handful of FGR supporters in London these days.

Great idea. Good luck with it.

I'll mention it to people in our London office and if you do make posters I'll put some up next time I'm up in London.

Interesting list Greeners. Have you been to any of them? :ugeek:

I would add Sree Krishna in tooting which does meat for those who want it but is fundamentally south Indian vegetarian. And also Saravanah Bhavaan opposite tooting market and also in Ilford. You don't come out feeling like you've missed out on anything.

And for beer beforehand try The Sultan in Colliers Wood, the only Hop Back Brewery pub in London.

I'm sure at the start of the season the club said to get in touch if anyone was trying to start up an FGR supporters group and they would supply some stuff to help out, couldn't hurt to give them a phone call and see what they can do to help ( posters, flags. a few tickets to persuade people along maybe etc)
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave.

Hi Timb
No, I'm up north and the only time I get to the smoke these days is when ferrying courtesy cars (usually dual controlled for instructors0 with accident damaged vehicles for repair, and that tends to be straight down and back.
But I just thought that could be an interesting way of finding football fans who share Dale's views.
Personally I'm more of a carnivore though I do have a vegetarian daughter-in-law so do have occasion to eat without meat every so often.

Well done Greeners, and thanks - looks very interesting. I was born in Stoke Newington, and i noted an eatery there. Maybe persuade some new fans to attend the Crawley away game in a few weeks. We are taking six converts from here in Sussex to the match.

Quite by chance I walked near to The London Palladium last night when the FIFA awards were taking place. Hundreds lined the streets to get a glimpse of famous footballers.

Someone caught a glimpse of the FGR badge on my jacket and started talking about the club and all that we have achieved, while recognising our poor start to the season.

There is definitely a place for a FGR London Supporters Branch - hopefully the FGR Supporters Club will pump prime its birth

We now have 5 Fgr London supporters who will meet to discuss the London branch. Leaflets have been drafted and hopefully we can distribute them soon. Exciting game against Crawley.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
