Well done VBM for taking this on to help OTC....I think I had 52 at the end of last month, so should be on 55 now!

Just checked previous page with its table and it has Pitchfork down with 51 points.
Hope you're trying to cheat a point on change over of admin. :D

I was going on the table you inserted after the Morecambe game where I had 52 points OTC

Yep, I agree a problem.
I think I made a mistake when I entered figures in wrong column and zapped the spreadsheets mind.
It will take a day or two for me to check it out - please bear with me.
And my apologies to VBM for giving him problems on first week he took over. I will sort it out.

No problem Tom, I used to make occasional mistakes when I did the tabulations.

One question that you all probably know the answer to.....but I don't.

Why do we have to predict a whole month in advance? Why not a week? Up until kick-off so we know who's playing and can change goalscorer if necessary, depending on whether they get picked or are injured etc?

And predicting scores a week in advance is difficult. A month? Impossible!

Unless you're a genius ;)

Revised table and apologies for whatever happened before.
No idea what went wrong but I redid everything and I'm pretty sure all is now correct.

I suspect that it started off as a monthly competition by Pitchfork 10 years ago when he was working hard as a head teacher and could not devote enough time for weekly competition.
When I took it over I carried on same formula.
Next season I will change competition slightly and make it easier to submit predictions.

And as regards selecting goalscorer - tell me about it.
Last two seasons in annual goalscorer competitions I selected two red hot scorers who then both left club before Xmas: AOC and Keiffer Moore.

But I will say a monthly competition of this type is not unusual on other forums either.

That's the fun part of it NFR. It's not to be taken so seriously. It also works the brain, as to trying to forecast what you think may happen on the field and behind the scenes. My first visit to the thread is always to check out the MAIN site, as it often provides clues to player movement, medium term injuries and the Manager/Players interviews on there. I think a forecast week by week over a month period would devalue the anticipation it generates in its present form.

OTC is right, monthly competitions are easier to organise and for many participants who don't log on every week, they can still join in. Moreover it is all a bit of fun and the element of luck is important to many.

And for the last couple of seasons OTC has also run the weekly predictions as well, so you can have the best of both worlds....almost unique amongst the football forums

I agree that predicting the scores is the fun part of it especially when I only need to choose between a win and a draw! It's just difficult to predict how well other teams will be performing a month in advance.

My goalscorer's absence is costing me points.

I might even consider going for KMB instead next month!

I’m in agreement with this and like OTC, my last two “top goal scorers” for the last two seasons were O’Connor and Tubbs, both left before the season was over.

Doidge

Four perfect forecasts this week. Well done Freddy, Silver Surfer, Sparky & Urban Spaceman.
Freddy now moves into top spot for month while Tommo remains as overall leading points scorer.
Good luck everybody at next game verses Crewe.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
