FGR v Port Vale: match forecast

Not so long ago Port Vale were in similar position that FGR find themselves in this week: automatic relegation spot and the rest of the table moving upwards and away from bottom.
Port Vale are now 18th in table with 11 more points than bottom two teams. They are this season's example that FGR must follow.
However Port Vale's shift up table presents FGR playing an in-form team who are 2nd in the current form table [6 matches] with 13 pts from
W W D W W L .
Sadly FGR are 24th in same table with just 1 pt from D L L L L L

Port Vale are 6th in current away form with 8 pts from W D L W D L, which gives the home fans a little comfort that our opponents are not all conquering.
FGR's current home form is 7 pts (21st in table) from W W D L L L.

Ever optimistic I will forecast a 2-1 home win.

Nobody forecast the exact 1-2 scoreline against Wycombe so no changes in tables.

I think a draw, sadly, is the best we can hope for.

1-1

Good News No CC (Stats say so)
Bad News still have MC
Good news (in the short term) players may play up to any visiting scouts in hope of getting out
Bad News Vale are a decent side now.
Good news, great second half performance to build on
Bad news, Cooper will undermine that.
Good news, Dayle Grubb
Bad News, can we a single expect a player to jump 2 levels and make a massive difference.
Good News more new signings
Bad news, where? none confirmed.

Looks like a draw
2-2

If we're led to believe there could be 3,4,5 new players on Saturday, almost impossible to call.
Can't expect more than a draw at this stage I think.
2-2.

FGR 2 Port Vale 1

Port Vale have hit some useful form but I think that a continuation of the spirit shown on Saturday in the second half could see us home with three points. We desperately need them against sides like this.

Port Vale's upturn in results can serve to inspire us. Haven't a clue who might be available for selection by Saturday, but guess it will be a bit early for much gelling to have happened. FGR 1 - Port Vale 2.

Us 1 nil, as my comp entry.

PS OTC. Edited my P/F Jan thing, post Jan kick-off to show Brown as the scorer for the final game, then realised the rules forbid editing once the month has begun. Put it back to Bugiel as original, I guess.

Damn confusing all these rumours about him leaving. :?

Let's hope with all the Veganuary excitement the club remembers to post some match details for the Port Vale game.

With Coops presumably banned from the touchline

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
