Car park chaos

Postby Stewjacksam » Sat Feb 03, 2018 3:44 pm

Anyone doubting why FGR need to move ground simply witness the chaos today
One road totally blocked 20 mins sat going nowhere so parking free for all breaks out
And this with 3000 probably here
What will happen when it gets bigger!
Interestingly many car parking slots still vacant in the main car park yet the sign at 2pm is car park full ?????

 Environmental Forest Green Rovers forced to have new build on greenfield site as cars cant park at New Lawn shocker

Surely the Park and rides open, looked like it earlier. Most grounds are congested before and after matches, just enjoy the atmosphere

Come on it’s no big deal. Big game, big crowd and a bit of traffic. Got to be expected really!

I agree - the delays leaving the car parks up at the ground were hardly unpredictable. Use the park and ride or walk I say.

Or stay on for the man of the match presentation in the CE suite after and miss the traffic. Great atmosphere in there tonight after the game. Pretty packed.

The CE suite was utter chaos today too... With half of it booked for tables there was no room, the tea and coffee station was merged with food, but with different tills. Queue was long and didn't move for ages... People queueing to pay were stopping people getting to cake and food... Bit of a farce tbh!

Why was that coach conveniently parked on the road blocking traffic going down the hill not asked to move by plod ?

I nearly had words with the driver but he looked like an extra from The Hills Have Eyes...

Somebody down in Nailsworth on the roundabout getting the traffic away would ease the queues coming down the hill. ( it's not rocket science) !

Agreed Wheelie.

As far as I'm aware it's only been done once for the Exeter FA cup game years ago. Unofficially. By two traffic policemen on motorcycles. They stopped the A46 traffic and the W traffic for two or three minutes at a time. Then the reverse.

It worked like a dream and only minor (relatively) delays to through traffic.

There was a similar problem getting out of the crawley car park in a bus recently. We sat there for minutes with constant traffic on the roundabout stopping the exit. Until two stewards took their life into their own hands and stepped out into the roundabout and stopped the traffic to let us and a lot of cars out.

As you say. Common sense.

We watched MoM presentation afterwards in CE suite, and came out at 6pm, got in the car and drove straight out turning left and shot up the hill - easy.

The car park full sign is often there no matter what time it is. It isn't clear whether the car park is full or if the location of the sign just happens to be a convenient place for it to be kept.

Why will gates get bigger? What's more, why is the situation going to be any better in a new ground?

Ahh I remember the 1 hour queue after winning at Wembley. One of my favourite queues.

Bottom line is arrive early to park responsibly and stay for presentation post match. No problem.

Someone please name a club that doesn't have match day parking issues, not sure there is one.

Left ground at 17.30 went back to Stroud via tinkley lane was home by 17.45,probably will not get that big a crowd again this season unless we have to beat Grimsby in the last game to stay up.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
