Newport v FGR: match forecast

Newport v FGR is one of our ‘local’ games so we can expect a terrific away support especially after win against Coventry.
The home fixture in October at TNL was FGR’s worst home defeat of season but is Newport’s best win – home or away.
FGR could not possibly play as bad in return fixture. And it would be lovely to balance that defeat.

Newport
Newport are predicted to finish 9th in table according to Football Web Pages so pundits expect them to improve on recent results. They are 9th in current form table [6 games] with 10 pts with 3 wins, 1 draw & 2 losses.
W v Exeter, W v Grimsby, W v Crawley, D v Morecambe, Loss v Lincoln & L v Colchester.

Newport are 15th in home form table with 9pts from 2 wins, 3 draws & 1 loss.
L v Barnet, D v Carlisle, D v Lincoln, W v Exeter, W v Crawley & D v Morecambe.
Newport have 13th best best home record in EFL 2.
Their biggest home defeat this season is 1-2 by Cheltenham & Barnet.

Newport have conceded at least one goal in each of their last 8 matches.

FGR
FGR are 11th best in form table with 9 pts from 3 home wins but alas no away points.
W v Port Vale, L v Swindon, W v Cambridge, L v Carlisle, L v Exeter & W v Coventry.

FGR currently have 6 straight away defeats. But 13 games since a draw.

Newport seem to be draw specialist so a draw against them would nullify above stats.
And that is what I will forecast:

Newport 1-1 FGR

If i recall correctly,Mr Cooper in an interview was unhappy pre the exeter game that Exeter had a clear week to prepare whereas FGR had played on the saturday and that allegedly gave exeter a clear advantage .

with Newport playing midweek, the opposite is true this time around,so FGR need to win to make good, support the managers position and be consistent with Mr Coopers concerns !
we'll see .

No doubt he will be honest and say in his pre-match interview, that it should thus be a relatively easy game for FGR as they have the full week to prepare

Newport 1-2 FGR

Hopefully, hopefully midweek takes their eye off the ball. As a Spurs fan too I hope we both do them!

With Newport playing at Wembley tomorrow there can't be a better time to play them. Let's hope for extra time.

Spoke to a Newport fan on Twitter and he said all his mates are not going Saturday instead staying in the pub to watch England V Wales rugby game which starts at 4.45.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
