That's a risk to publish if there's no truth to it. We know how MC takes umbridge against inaccurate reporting.

Looking at the odds, I doubt MC will get it, 33/1. Danny Cowley is 5/4 favourite, although doubt he'll jump ship with Wembley on the horizon, the likes of Simon Grayson and Garry Monk are up there in the betting and they would seem far more likely choices, out of work and experienced in the Championship.

Wouldn't begrudge Coops a move up if they come in for him though.

Maybe cooper jnr could go too? QPR would obviously be disappointed.

Still very bitter then, even after a great win?

Losing Cooper mid-season would be very disruptive for us. Lindsay might be able to take over temporarily but the upward curve of the season - just about discernable following the last 5-6 games - would probably stall. If MC keeps us up he will have done well this season and I'd like to see how the story with him works out.

As has been said, there are other candidates but MC must have a lot of contacts in that part of the world. I hope he stays.

The situation at Barnsley and Leeds may be disruptive for Jordan Stevens too. I hope he catches the eye of Heckingbottom.

Pinnock (and Moore) will probably be ok at Barnsley - Pinnock is class for anyone.

Nope not at all bitter :) happy with the great win, happy in general. I don't know why you think I'm bitter now, let alone still bitter.

Bit more gentle than that, more like the pitch when you concrete a driveway so the water drains off all right :D

I just read the Cowleys have ruled themselves out of the running.

Smart money would be on Mick McCarthy, it would seem.

Unless Barnsley usually make a habit of wishing managers of other clubs in their division a happy birthday using the hashtag #OneOfOurOwn.

MC won't go - he knows which side his butter is spread. He is paid too much money by us to join a non-discript club going nowhere fast. I suggest we have no worries with this thread. Some other failed journeyman on the managerial merry-go-round will apply and get it.

Paper talk on a slow week.

Tomiswalking, looks like it's your turn to have brought on the tears.

Not a chance. I'm too big and ugly for that. As LG seems to be all too aware of.

Looking forward to Newport, whoever our manager is.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
