Is he eligible for a work permit now then?

That was the stumbling block last rime, as he, like Sam Mensah and others was here on a student visa and therefore prevented from being employed in professional football.

Yes! Sam Mensah played against Arsenal in the Europa League last night and has a Swedish passport which means he would be eligible.

I have heard Isaac's Swedish passport is coming through also and he is a free agent currently. I hope this is true! He was unreal when he played for us! Its always good to add more quality.

Neither I do a lot of football blogging. I was playing for the under 18s when they were both playing for the club and have followed them ever since.

I think this would be big for the club I hope it happens

Watched a lot of reserve games with those 2 playing - they were fantastic prospects from Hartpury I think? DD worked his socks off to get them visas but no one in Westminster wanted to listen to a small club

How old are they now - presume late 20s or 30?

Shaze is a bit of a known quantity in that he has been at the club before, and was highly rated by those who saw him when he played for the reserves, as well as JH of course, who certainly knew his stuff.

That was 10 years ago though, and in a lower division, but he has been playing pro football at a decent standard in the time since then, so you never know he could well be worth a trial?

Mensah was promising when he was with us and has gone a long way since. Shaze was very quick but would he be strong enough for League 2?

Playing in the Faroes will have toughened him up I guess

Perhaps Stevie Perrin might be making a comeback.

May your strength be replenished Footieman

I think it is great supporters recall the exploits of 2 young footballers who were never afforded the opportunity to play for the 1st team. They are nonetheless part of our story and thought of with affection. I believe both were part of the team that won the Football Combination too ahead of teams like Brighton

Yep, especially remember him scoring at Hereford in that brilliant second leg when we stunned them 4-1. They thought they were pretty much through how wrong they were.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
