michael wrote:is it just me ,but is this thread as absurd as those who post photos on facebook of what they are having for breakfast .

does anyone really care/remember what other posters are watching on TV.

that given-if you can't beat 'em -join 'em so for the record-i am watching a recording of last weeks Brit awards ,where i particularly like J Huus and the lyrics of urban grime ,although some of us may say that even he has gone too commercial these days.
(making it vaguely football related-J Huus supports Arsenal )

I'm so glad you've decided to join in. :D

I didn't watch the Brit awards so can't really comment.

I know this isn't Facebook and I've no intention of posting what I have for breakfast or Quorn recipes (unless anybody wants one!)

This thread isn't absurd at all.
Have you visited other football forums? A lot of them have general chat sections just like this one where everyone talks about everything from politics to movies to music to current affairs to pets to TV programmes etc. etc.

I know that there isn't much in life as important as football but sometimes it's nice to socialise on a forum and discuss other things as well.

I care what other people are watching because I'm interested. If somebody posts a recommendation for a film being shown or a new series, I'll check it out. If everybody raves about something I haven't bothered with, I might decide to give it a go.
Plus it's good to talk about a programme with someone who has also seen it.

Hence this thread.

So........

I was right about Collateral.
How can so much happen in an hour? I was exhausted after last night's episode trying to keep track of what was going on.
I'm not convinced I even know anymore! :?

That's true, but the characterisation is excellent and this means the story isn't the be all and end all.

With football, the characters are interesting but the quality of the match and the result are of prime importance

Most of you will probably ridicule me for this, but thank heavens the DC Universe is back from its winter break, Flash tonight, Arrow tomorrow and Legends of Tomorrow on thursday, plus Supergirl back on our screens next week, and Marvels Agents of Shield at the weekend.

I loved them.

Agree NFR. The previous 2 stories were the best things on TV last year.

Shame about the ending. I was hoping it was going to be the same as The Graduate!

It was very good though.

Another good programme I've seen this week is Save Me on Sky Atlantic. A new 6 part thriller set in London starring Lennie James. Apparently you can download all the episodes but I'm only going to watch one at a time.

I just watched recording of Rachel Nickell: The untold story

Did anyone else see this?

I remember the case (don't we all?) but never knew the details until now.

Unbelievable.

The Homesman (still available on iPlayer)

Two exceptional leads including Tommy Lee Jones who also wrote and directed.

Why am I recommending this?
I really don't know because it was so hard to watch and there wasn't even a happy ending.

Maybe because it's one of those rare films that stays with you long after it's gone.

So do I watch Roma v Liverpool or Aldershot v Ebbsfleet :?:
Perhaps the NL play-off game as the Champions League 2nd leg must be a foregone conclusion ?? ;)

Decisions, decisions ! Who do we want promoted if it is to be Aldershot or Ebbsfleet? On balance I would prefer The Shots - simply because the away game will be within striking distance.

In reality I guess I'll be hanging on to the remote, and flitting back and forth!!

I much prefer Aldershot for reasons of distance and my experiences visiting both clubs.

I have a sneaking feeling it will be Ebbsfleet and they will then beat Tranmere at Wembley

Fabian Robert missed a penalty for Aldershot to send them through to the semi-final. Ebbsfleet progress to play Tranmere.

I watched the last 30 minutes of the Roma Liverpool game. Entertaining.

I toggled between the Aldershot v Ebbsfleet game and the Roma v Liverpool. Eventually gave up on Aldershot who I'd willed to win - they looked really out of touch against pretty ordinary opposition led by a guy who looks like he's eaten The Beast. Naturally, Ebbsfleet won!

Glad I don't support Liverpool - cannot get under my sofa to hide!

10pm tonight BBC 1

Peter Kay's Car Share.

Can't wait.

Penultimate unscripted episode with grand final expected next bank holiday. Brilliant series that will be so missed. Hopefully this time we will get the happy ending!

Will definitely be watching the new Bridge Series SS. Did you catch the Sky sister series, The Tunnel?

Last night's season finale of Homeland was tumultuous! President re-appointed then resigns (Trump please note) and Carrie headed for the funny farm for spies. Still, Saul's still there to keep the CIA together ....

If you like Scandinavian TV Series, or indeed any foreign language stuff, try Walter Presents on 4oD...there are some great series on there. Deutschland 83 is a good place to start, which I believe was the most watched foreign language series when it originally aired on C4.

I'm watching Black Lake at the moment, recorded from BBC4 late last year, which is a psychological thriller set in Sweden...pretty good it is too.

well i want Coventry to win today

why :

retains a local derby next season v exeter .
(although in practice coventry is probably nearer !)
exeter-nicer place to visit for weekend.

retains the opportunity for FGR to be the 'best in the west '.

reuben reid will probably be hacked off if exeter win

shows what can be done with FA Cup money (exeters rise based on their fa cup campaign of about 3 seasons ago culminating with their games v manchester united-bringing in lots of money to fund their rise again )

Agree with that... same for Lincoln (and Burton much longer ago). If we can look decent in the first half of the season, perhaps we can get a run in the cup going next year.

About FGR

We’re a club that looks to the future, but our identity is forged from a rich 128-year history. Founded in 1889, we’re one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

In 2017, we were promoted to the Football League for the first time in our history – which means we can spread our sustainability message to an even bigger audience. FIFA recently described us as the greenest football club in the world. That’s quite an accolade, and it shows how we’ve been able to bring together football and environmental consciousness at the highest levels of the game.
